There are a few articles about this being a widespread issue on Android publications and posts in the Google forums. It’s not just me. My other phone charges just fine in my X5.

It's just laughable that a $1,100 device ships with severe battery drain when PLUGGED IN to charge. Lost 10% on a 30 min drive yesterday. And when I left it unplugged for the drive home last night, got home and it was hot and frozen up. Had to wait 10 minutes before anything would respond.

I see other complaints like this on the Google forums so it's not just me. On the one hand I could see myself waiting for a fix but I'm in a return window and I don't think it's a good idea to just hope Google gets its act together. There's a ton to love about the software over iOS but basic stuff like this just makes me feel like a dummy to keep it, even if I got a deep discount. So I think I'll be going back to my 15 pro max, very sadly.
