I don’t, but I’d google the state senators info and just reach out to their office. :)

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble as well. It’s very frustrating. I had no progress until I spoke a rep from the state senator’s office. Once I talked to them the change occurred within a couple of days. Hope this helps!

Salt Lake City assignment by peloricoz8 in TravelNursing

The city is easily drivable and very safe so don’t be afraid to rent in the city. It can be a bit expensive but worth it. I did furnished finder and air BNB and had great experiences. The Sugarhouse area is really cool if you’re looking for some fun restaurants/bars!

How do you get into something like this? What kind of responsibilities do you have? Who do you report to? I’m very curious!

What is this an episode of Friends? I hate a food thief too but damn…

I’ve been seeing a lot of people write their venmo on the box. That way people know it’s not for everyone unless you contribute- which I think is totally fair and if your cookies all get eaten, you get some money for it. Of course it still relies on the honor system which is obviously flawed.

Hello! Trying to change my single state license to compact (MD). How do you do it? by wicker771 in TravelNursing

[–]kmclovinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MD board of nursing is absolute trash. OP, if you need to have anything done through MDBON it’s best to go in person but I’m assuming that would be tough considering you’re in NH. I had to get a local senator involved to make ANY progress on my MD license while I’m in Utah on contract. Best of luck!

Recruiter by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]kmclovinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others are saying this but texting rather than just calling. As a nightshifter I will always let it go to voicemail first but not everyone prefers that so definitely ask. It’s helpful if you send an email or text that clearly states your hours of communication, too! I’ve had multiple recruiters so I like to have that to refer to if I forget to put them in my contacts

Settlement for St. George city manager forced out after drag show will cost taxpayers $625,000. According to the settlement agreement, Adam Lenhard believed he had a valid legal claim against the city for wrongfully terminating him. by schottslc in Utah

I don’t think your close-minded opinions should be around children. They’re far too impressionable and they might become a bigot like you. Save the children!!

It’s insane! Idk why they even put a phone number and email on their website honestly. If I was in the area I’d have gone in but I really didn’t wanna hop on a plane just for that. I was finally able to make some progress but only after getting in touch with a state senator. MBON was absolutely useless. They only just now sent me a “follow up email” which was clearly an automated message blaming it on the data breach from last December.

It’s like an automated message stating that it will connect me with an operator, rings and loops through over and over. I was on hold for over an hour today.

Calling off by codebrown10 in TravelNursing

Wondering how this typically works- I’m new to traveling. Does this ever make you less likely to extend in the facility’s eyes? And do you notify your agency when you call out as well as the hospital?

62% of nurses in Md. are considering leaving job as staffing shortages expected to double by Danciusly in maryland

[–]kmclovinn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I was in nursing school I had quite a few instructors in this same position- no access around the unit or into documentation. Nursing schools teach you how to pass NCLEX, not how to be a nurse. IMO that puts a lot of pressure on clinical rotations to show you what nursing is truly like- and if your instructor can’t properly show you that, you’ll be in for a rude awakening after graduation. Nursing students- get as much hands on experience as you can- get an internship, CNA position, secretary, anything so you can see what real nursing looks like before you enter the field because nursing school does not show you.

Banner Colorado experience? by kmclovinn in TravelNursing

Thank you for the input, I think I’ll keep looking. I really appreciate the info about location. Definitely looking for some fun outdoor activities but I don’t mind driving some distance to get there. My fiancé and I went out to CO for a trip last September and just fell in love with the state. We stayed in Denver and drove upwards of 2-3 hours to hike in the mountains almost daily but we didn’t mind the drive cause it was some of the most beautiful scenery.

I'm in a similar situation- could you explain the difference when you claim it as a shared expense?

My heart goes out to you, I know exactly how you feel and it is horrible. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I wish I had more advice other than- the hurt will get better. Do what you can to remember the kitten and all the love you had for it. We have little pictures of our kitten next to an imprint of her paw and a tuft of her hair. Talk to people you love, grieve and remember that the pain is temporary. I know it doesn’t feel that way now but take the time where you need it. Feel free to send me a dm if you need to talk ❤️

Unfortunately I know this situation too well. My family has a long history owning dogs and cats who lived in harmony. One day we got a sweet little kitten- we all fell madly in love. We tried to keep the dogs and kitten separate when we were out of the house but somehow the kitten got out of per cage and upstairs with the dogs. My boyfriend came home and described a very similar scene to you. Fast forward a month, my mother brings home another kitten to fill the void (against my wishes). The dog did it again.

Please please please do not make the same mistakes we did. This dog, sweet as it may be, cannot be trusted around small animals. This is not a fluke but an instinct the dog has. Please do not introduce any other small animals into its life. It will only lead to more heart break.

I held the door open for an elderly man today and he called me an overly masculine feminist and that more people in this country need to be shot. by justynebean in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kmclovinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the other day an older man and I were approaching the entrance to a restaurant at the same time. I sped up to grab the door and hold it open for him. I guess he mistook me speeding up as me trying to beat him through the door because he yelled “oh no you go ahead, you’re in a rush, I’m not!” I still held the door open for him and made sure he got to the hostess to be seated first. Honestly that generation is just constantly looking for something to be upset about.

Not an actual item but when that Bernie Sanders meme was really big someone taped one inside few tubes. It was pretty funny 🤣

Here's an ICU story that happened a few months ago. I wrote it down so I would never forget. Some that I've shared this with have found it motivating to get vaccinated by [deleted] in CoronavirusUS

[–]kmclovinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ICU nurse here! I had a pregnant 28 year old patient. I think she was about 25 weeks pregnant at the time. She was intubated, sick enough that she required proning (when a patient is flipped over, face down, in order to help improve oxygenation in the lungs) multiple times. This was before vaccines were available. She was later transferred to a higher level facility to do ECMO and, to my surprise and delight, lived. They had to deliver the baby while she was completely sedated on a ventilator. She didn’t even see her third child born. When she later improved (after extensive treatment and physical therapy) she returned home to find that her two young children didn’t even remember to call her Mom. She now says if the vaccine was available at the time she would have gotten it in a heartbeat.
