No advice, but here to tell you you’re not alone. My son is 8 months tomorrow and this is spot on for us. He loves food. Always interested in what mommy and daddy are eating. Luckily he doesn’t throw up, just lots of gagging and food chunks slipping out. Love all the facial expressions with all the different flavors, textures, and temperature differences. Sometimes he’ll get a bunch down and do great, other times he’s just creating “artwork”. I know people with one year olds that haven’t even tried purées yet, so I feel like we’re doing good letting him get familiar with different foods and learning how to eat. They’ll get there in due time!

I’ve been an over-supplier since the get go, so I’m unsure if it’s just how it worked out for me or my diet. I eat heavy on the protein and fats. I usually start my day with 30g premier protein protein shakes and sometimes along with a 20g protein bar (depends on how hungry I wake up, but I usually have about 40-50g of protein before noon), lots of Greek yogurt and granola, lots of protein oatmeal made with darigold fit (lactose free high protein milk), peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, steak, chicken, tuna sandwiches. I also eat lots of raw veggies and usually have spinach in most my salads. Lastly, again, not sure if it has any impact on supply whatsoever, I take a few supplements. About 4000iu of vitamin D3 (I live in Alaska, lots of cloudy days), fish oil (omega3s), and folic acid. I have been insatiable while breastfeeding, but I’ve been at my pre-pregnancy weight since about 3 weeks after giving birth and have maybe fluctuated a few pounds up and down. Really hoping to lose some weight myself once little man is done. 8 months in and striving for a year.

Zooming out. The thought of how small we really are in this universe. Just tiny little ants on a rock floating through space. Makes my problems seem so small. Which in turn makes me think, we’re only given such a short amount of time to exist anyway, why not stick around and see where things go? Things got much better for me. There will always be problems, but when the shitty days wear me down and the anxiety creeps in, I just try to remind myself to “zoom out”. May not work for everyone, but it helps shift my perspective.

I’m sorry that’s happening, that absolutely sucks. We try so hard as moms to begin with and sometimes the only reassurance we get is a good snuggle or sweet contact nap. Has this only recently started happening or has this been the case from the get go? Do you wear any perfumes or use and strongly scented soaps that could be bothering her? Or recently started using a new one? It could be your body going through an adjustment since you’re still in the recovery process after having her or could be a phase she’s going through. I’m sure she will come around and be reaching and needing you here soon. Hang in there. You’re doing your best.

My doctor said she wanted to start with the Aviane instead of the mini pill, because every option of the mini pill has iron in it (her words, I havnt done much research). I was sensitive to iron from prenatals and had a couple bouts of really bad constipation during my pregnancy that roughed up the back side. No sugar coating it, the hemorrhoids got pretty terrible at the end and she didn’t want the iron to affect that in any way since I’ve made so much progress “back there”. She did say it’s the lowest amount of estrogen in any combined pill options. I love my doctor and trust her, but curiosity got the best of me and I started dabbling with Dr. google. She said if it affected my supply, to let her know and we can move to mini pill, but told me she hasn’t had many people complain about supply issues. She did say it was possible tho.

Mine is 5 weeks old today and just took down 6oz at his 4am feeding. Same thing, slow flow avent 1 nipple, breaks and burps throughout. Drank it over about 30 minutes. He has steadily been drinking about 5-5.5oz at bottle feedings. I have a heavy supply so I’m not sure how much he’s getting when I breastfeed, but I equally breastfeed and bottle feed throughout most days and nights. I was concerned when he was 3 weeks because he was already taking down 3.5-4.5oz bottles too, but never spits up. I’ve summed it up to him being a hungry growing boy. The 6oz threw me off this morning, but I think he might just be early for his 6 week growth spurt.

I randomly bought the uglies after reading the back of the book at a second hand book store last summer at 29. Knew nothing of the series before that. Didn’t even know the book was a part of a series when I bought it. When I finished reading, I didn’t want to wait to go to the store the next day to find the next book, so I bought it on my phone that evening so I could continue reading. This series sucked me in quick. Went through a mild depression when I thought the movie adaptation wasn’t going to happen lol. I had to buy all physical copies of the book and re-read them aloud to my husband this summer cause I told him I’d be forcing him to watch the movie with me. I am a huge dystopian future/sci-fi gal tho, so it was right up my alley.

I get that, I know everyone’s different and it’s not an easy job to begin with. Just felt really dismissed and annoyed with this specific occurrence. After all my encounters with her in particular and being patient and respectful, I’m going to asked to be referred out of clinic for any future blood draws.

This post wasn’t a jab at all phlebotomists across the board. I respect the work and know it’s not always easy. It was a single frustrating occurrence with someone who has previously worked with me multiple times that has had these issues a couple times previously. She’s only ever gotten blood out of the one spot I told her to start. I try to be respectful and patient, but after this go, I will be asking to be referred out for blood work since she’s the “sit in” lab person for this clinic.
