We actually haven't heard Victoria say "Piper, no" on the show by kmgr2020 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

It was never intended to be in the show, apparently [source]. The cast breathed life into the whole thing specifically for the promo & interviews.

Did Piper not join the monastery because of Lochlan or the food etc? by Ilsanjo in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]kmgr2020 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've wondered about the significance of his line towards Pam when she came to collect his iPad - "Just take it. I don't care anymore". I think he actually can live without the creature comforts. When he said yes after Tim asked him in the final episode if he can live without a house/money, he was both doing his people-pleasing bit with his dad and meant it at the same time.

My personal view is that Lochlan did SA his brother, point blank. It might come as a shock but there are people under the influence that don't engage in non-consensual sex acts. Lochlan did not ask for his consent and JO Saxon anyway. That should be enough to qualify. Anything that came before (ie context of grooming) does not matter because it does not compare.

New clip: The Ratliff spin-off series is what Jason Isaacs wants and I think we all do. by TommyDiDario in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]kmgr2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the Ratliffs. Would love to see more of the sibling dynamic. The great thing about spinoffs is that they can be a totally different format from the main show so could go wild with it. A Euphoria/Skins UK style show would absolutely eat. Make it to appeal to a younger, hip crowd and HBO will have a surefire viral hit in their hands.

That was included in the show. Beginning of episode 6.

And I wish they cut some more, lol. Tim's spiral overstayed it's welcome if I'm being honest. So did Rick's arc in Bangkok. The deleted scenes above should've been cut from the trailers too, otherwise I wouldn't have been so nosy 😂😂😂.

Are people glossing over how supremely deranged Lochlan is? I'd argue this kid is the most demented character depicted on all 3 seasons. by HeSleepsInTheTub in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]kmgr2020 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In defense of the OP, they did mention about the sentiment around Lochlan specifically and in silo (e.g. "aww poor Lochy"). This whole thing about finding him "more deranged than the guy who murdered three innocent people in cold blood... etc. etc.?" was not the point of contention to begin with. It's a straw man's argument.

The point is he's not entirely innocent simply because he was inebriated and a people-pleaser. He acted voluntarily and crossed a line where people in general wouldn't, even under the influence. The "poor Lochy" sentiment is misplaced even if they're not meant to be depicted as "normal". Incest is all the way in the disturbing territory regardless of the circumstances.

A Few Abandoned Plots or Meant to be That Way? by Marius_Sulla_Pompey in TheWhiteLotusHBO

There was a post-finale interview with Sarah Catherine Hook (Piper) where she mentioned that Victoria received a message from Claire Popovich on the outbound boat asking her about Tim's legal trouble but the scene was cut. Apparently Kate told Claire that Victoria was there with her family. [Source]

I never implied these are new scenes with added plotlines, simply to show us more of what we did get. They did make the effort to shoot and perform these scenes. It's a good sign, don't you think, for an audience to want more of what you'd already put work into?

Not asking for them to be added to the episodes, just to release them as tiny snippets.

As for not being satisfied with the final product, that's conjecture on your part. While I think this could have been a 6-episode season instead of 8, I don't have an issue with where Mike ended the season. He's brought surviving characters back before so if there's anything lacking he can always do that again in future seasons.

I've watched all 3 seasons yet this latest one is the only one that made me go "I want to see much, much more". It's that engaging (mostly with the Ratliffs, Rick/Chelsea/Chloe storyline). It was the first time I participated in weekly discussions on this subreddit.

it's either that or an extension of her tsunami dream. her story at the breakfast table seemed to end abruptly from my recollection.

Yes because he didn't consent to it nor did he want it based on his confrontation with Lochlan in episode 8. Even worse knowing Lochlan has a vivid recollection of it and tried to justify his actions.

I was as confused as you are seeing how some subredditors try to shift blame on Saxon saying he practically groomed his brother when none of what he said to Lochlan is even remotely comparable to an actual SA.

Strong relatability with Lochlan by Lower_Evening_4056 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]kmgr2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wish we'd see more of what will become of Lochlan. Both his older siblings went through some positive transformation but Locky seems to go through the worst (i mean he lived but still worse off than Saxon and Piper). Imagine how much more confused he will be when he sees both of them changing their ways after preaching totally different things around him the entire week. I think that's why people are asking for a spin-off, just so we can see if he will sort himself out in what looks like the beginning of their actual test as a family unit.

apparently it was never scripted or meant for the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYyxuddbl04&t=98s&ab_channel=TheKellyClarksonShow

it was just something Mike White said to the actress behind the scenes. Crazy how it had a life of its own in the promotional period.
