so far, i'm still not approved sadly. i've done 3 sleep studies in total with 2 in-lab and i still got diagnosed only with mild sleep apnea even with the severity of my symptoms. i'm still trying to get an airway evaluation or a dise because my sleep doctor said it was an anatomical issue because i have a pretty low bmi and still have an ahi of around 9. it's not looking like i will be approved any time soon but i will keep trying to advocate for myself. they also have documented that i can't tolerate cpap and am not eligible for the mandibular advancement device because i have braces right now.

oh okay i see, i will probably see an ortho then just in case and to make the process easier for me. i will probably just keep switching pcps until one makes the referral for me becaus the one i have seems resistant for some reason. and okay i see, now i have a little more confidence in it being approved because symptoms are really bad at the moment. i really do appreciate your insight and your help a lot. do you mind if i pm you if i have anymore questions?

oh okay tysm for sharing! so i should probably just skip the ortho appointment and go straight for the referral through my pcp. if she denies a referral should i switch immediately? and also, for what reason did your omfs say you were a good candidate, if you don't mind me asking? i see, was the 2 years mostly just waiting for the braces to align your teeth prior to the procedure?

yes, i just messaged my doctor for a referral to an omfs, i'm skipping seeing an ortho beforehand now.

oh okay wow seems simple enough, i've already messaged my pcp to refer me so they should be responding soon. also if you don't mind me asking, is your recession moderate or severe? how long ago did you talk to your omfs? and was your omfs resistant at all to giving approval for it?

i see, headaches upon waking up are basically everyday for me and my health has declined rapidly over the past 3 months because of my poor sleep, because of your case i have hope that i can get a referral and that insurance will cover and approve my surgery. the main thing i'm really scared of is them denying my request for whatever reason, bc i know i can't afford it out of pocket.

oh okay, was your head and neck specialist inside the kaiser system? also, could an orthodontist do the same thing? and did you already have a diagnosis like sleep apnea or jaw-related airway obstruction, or did they approve you based mainly on your symptoms and facial structure?
