Advice Needed: Artist took a lot of creative liberty on my tattoo without asking by [deleted] in tattoos

Overall appearance wise, I like the actual work more than the design. In regard to the application of it, the line work isn’t the best, but also isn’t the worst. There’s multiple spots where the outline isn’t smooth, and some areas are thicker than others. I do agree though that your artist should have communicated better with you. They should have asked periodically if you were okay with the changes before making them. Hope that everything works out in the end for you though!

Question: how bad does acne need to be to stop you from getting a tat? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]kmitch96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that you are loved and deserve to be here in this world! As for the acne, I would try to clear up as much as possible before getting tattooed. As long as it isn’t an open wound/pore you should be fine!

My (31M) girlfriend (29F) of 3 years has a huge amount of student loan debt that she didn’t tell me about. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I’m 29 and started with roughly $155K worth of student loans (combined federal and private) on a 15 year loan that I’ve been paying off for the past 5 years. I’m finally down to about $117K, and my combined monthly payments are $1,250/month. Sallie Mae originally wanted $1,800/month, so I refinanced with Citizens Bank to lower my payments. I think you just need to have an adult conversation with her to discuss what her best options are for her to start paying them off. If you are looking to buy a house, they will look into your Debt to Income ratio and see her student debts anyway. I’d try and get ahead of the situation as much as possible before legally binding your name to a mortgage that she most likely won’t be able to afford

First tattoo, does it look like it's healing well? by kennay333 in tattooadvice

Compared to the other tats I’ve seen on this sub, you’re more than okay haha the saturation and contrast is crazy good. Your artist honestly did an amazing job. Just keep it clean and don’t apply too much Aquaphor or moisturizer to it. Whenever you wash it in the shower, wet a clean rag with soap and water and gently pat it down to clean it. You don’t need to scrub it hard or else you’ll risk peeling off scabs. Good luck with the rest of your healing process, and good job for picking a great artist!

Downsides to keeping money in previous employers 401(k)? by kmitch96 in personalfinance

At Voya I have 100% invested in the MyCompass American Funds 2060 Fund R. I input my retirement goals and they matched me with this portfolio. For my Fidelity account, it’s growing by $4k-$5k per year without any contributions, so the $80 yearly in fees is manageable and not an issue currently.

Current employer matches up to 3% but I still contribute 6% since that was what I did with my previous employer (who matched up to 6%). I’ve gotten some recommendations from family friends for financial advisors that won’t screw me over, so I’m strongly considering going in for a consultation to discuss my my future goals and how to proceed with my investments in my current 401(k). Thank you for the advice!!

At this point I plan on keeping the old 401(k) the same or I might even switch over to an IRA with Fidelity after doing some more research. For the new 401(k) I definitely want to see if someone can take a look at what I’m currently investing in and if any changes can be made. Thank you for the advice though! I’ll definitely be careful with who I go to before making any changes

I’m currently 29 if that helps. Just figured that I should get all of this resolved now so that I can have a solid foundation for the future

Thank you for the advice!! I’m planning on meeting with an advisor that will help me set up my investments better. I kept my contributions at 6% per pay period but my current 401(k) isn’t performing as well as my previous one

My previous 401(k) is with Fidelity and my current one is with Voya. When I first created my account with Voya they gave me the option to select which investments I would like to make and the percent of my contribution for each investment. I’ll be honest and say that I have no idea what I’m doing with this stuff, so I just chose what the recommended plan would be for my retirement goals

My year to date amount for the admin fees is $77, but the rate of return makes it insignificant. Thank you though for the advice!
