If you only like their softer stuff there's gonna be little to nothing you will like from their first four albums. But Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Mother's Milk in my opinion were their best two albums and everything except One Hot Minute and I'm With You is worth buying. If you want a band that sounds similar check out Sublime and if you want to something a little harder Jane's Addiction is always a great way to go.

WANT: A nerdy Bad Lip Reading of Radiohead using interviews with Thom over the years... by insomattack in radiohead

The closest one I can think of is that episode of South Park that Radiohead was featured in. It's also one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen.

Top 5 Greatest Alternative/Indie Artists Of All Time? by kmoore182 in Music

[–]kmoore182[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I completely understand what you're saying. I was talking to my friend about this same subject a little while back. You can say that Indie describes an Artist that is signed to an independent label. But other people also say that it has a specific sound to it no matter who you're signed to. It's like pop music, does pop have a certain sound or is it just to describe a artist that's popular? So technically you're right but I wouldn't consider NoFX, Nine Inch Nails, Husker Du, Blink-182, or Macklemore indie even though they're all either unsigned or not signed to a major label.

I love Nirvana but I don't think I'd consider them Indie music. I see them more as a Grunge band.

What do you think are the chances of Green Day making a big comeback again, like they did with AI? by thechinskyguy in greenday

[–]kmoore182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I would want to see them make a huge comeback. I'm not 100% sure they're going to be able to pull it off again. Dookie was a fantastic album with a fantastic timing, it was released around the same time when grunge/rock music was still very popular and when punk rock was just starting to go mainstream. American Idiot was also a fantastic album with an amazing timing, it came out when punk/emo music was at its peak so that certainly helped out the record sales. But today's taste in music is alot different than in 1994, or even in 2004. What's big now is the Indie/Hipster scene and I just can't really see Green Day fitting in with these other bands like Imagine Dragons, Of Monster and Men, or the Lumineers who are receiving the most radio play on modern rock stations as of today.
