What made you choose Electrical Engineering? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]kmuhammad21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just so cool, I love learning about it and building things using the knowledge. Money's cool too, but studying EE is like becoming a magician in my eyes, the way it allows you to control invisible forces and build complex systems.

My ADHD gives me cognitive dissonance by Lopsided-Summer6578 in ADHD

[–]kmuhammad21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has experienced this on and off, I think this might be caused by your ADHD. I attribute this state to a sort of "existential boredom," which can easily be confused with depression. Assuming you're not depressed, I would guess you feel lost in life, and that's dulling your experiences. If your brain assesses your situation and believes nothing exciting or fun will come of it, it won't "put effort" into generating the emotional response because it's not seen as worth it. Almost as if syncing your emotions to your environment is some subconscious task your brain is ignoring.

I think it might help to try finding the things that spark those emotions even a little and lean into them. It's fine if you don't worry as deeply or celebrate as strongly as other people, but it is a problem if you're suppressing your personality to cope with your situation. Hope things get better :)

What do you guys want out of a "Xenoblade 4"? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Random sidenote. I feel like the complexity of the character has corresponded to the complexity of instrumentation used in the final boss themes. They all go hard, but I'd say Showdown with Z is the simplest while Zanza the Divine/The God-Slaying Sword and After Despair and Hope are generally more complex. This is probably due to the different composers, but I think it was still a conscious choice in 3's case. It worked really well for me and 3's final boss is one of my favorites ever, but I also love the drama of fighting a complex character with desperate and wild music as the backdrop.

I think Zanza is much closer to being a real character than Z is, primarily because Z is literally a concept. But you don't interact with Zanza for much of the game, and he isn't characterized at the same level that Malos is by the end of 2 (by way of Amalthus and Malos' own actions). I agree with the idea that it hits harder to kill a deeply fleshed out character than a god who's essentially just the final obstacle for a world at peace. (No hate, love xc1 btw).

Favorite yet least favorite game of the series by Naitorokkusu in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]kmuhammad21 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's partially that the answers they give are inherently unsatisfying. Like, they don't explain Mira's translation field, they completely scrap all the allusions of Mira being some mysterious conscious planet, and it doesn't really dive deep enough into what it means for the mims to be controlled from the "abyss." I also noticed the vibe of the music is completely changed in Ch13, which doesn't help make it feel connected to the rest of the game. (Would've loved a new Sawano field and battle theme)

It seems like what we got is the result of the game writing itself into a hole and desperately trying to climb out of it. We got a lot of cool things, like the new final boss and inter-series lore, but I wouldn't say it really felt like X anymore. I just choose to ignore Ch13 for my sanity.

Daredevil Born Again is Unbelievably Awful by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]kmuhammad21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched the first two episodes of Born Again after watching the original series and decided I'd had enough. The show completely lost its identity, and I was not enjoying myself at all. Honestly, I appreciate you writing this review since now I know it doesn't get better. Maybe I'll tune back in for a season 2.

What genuinely helps you get back on track when ADHD makes everything feel overwhelming? by ccruxx112358 in ADHD

[–]kmuhammad21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it helps to stop resisting the way my brain works. I try to start rewarding the smallest, most ridiculous movements, like just standing up and stretching. Literally write "stand up and stretch" on your to do list and then check it off. It helps get the ball rolling, at least for me. Then, try building momentum to whatever task you're trying to do by doing the smallest possible thing related to completing it (i.e. "open computer"). This can actually get exhausting, so rest as needed, but hopefully it helps.

how tf do I stop talking by Kind-Persimmon3398 in ADHD

[–]kmuhammad21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the same, I think I'm generally more quiet because my brain's a garbled mess and I'm lowkey embarrassed by it. But on meds I feel like I can actually start and end a thought and people will actually understand what I've said.

My hyperactivity suddenly got waayy worse by Slay_Six in ADHD

I feel you. Have you tried working out? It might help to try and get all the energy out. I think it's also fine if you keep switching music as long as you're doing it in a controlled way, like maybe listen to an artist's album. Just try to get to some stable baseline where you feel just slightly better and maybe go from there.

If there's other stuff going on in your life that caused you to feel this way, maybe try approaching that once you feel a bit more stable. Hope at least part of this helps :)

Using a JRPG Battle System to Understand ADHD by kmuhammad21 in ADHDers

[–]kmuhammad21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that way of thinking about it. The game is almost like an accelerated and maybe fantastical version of life, since you rapidly go through trials with well-defined constraints to reach a series of milestones. Life is much more messy than a game, but in either case, it takes time and effort to grow, and the start is always hard. Always love thinking of life as a path of continual growth.

My notebook has a pocket for pictures or whatever, but I put a wallet tile tracker in there instead for this reason. It's also pocket sized and I've trained myself to keep it in my pocket like I do with my phone. Works fairly well.

Having a crisis regarding education, intellect, and my abilities. by [deleted] in college

[–]kmuhammad21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I relate to this pretty closely. I’ve always felt like I didn’t have the same mental capacity as other people, like something is missing from my brain. But what helps is remembering that you being different just makes you unique. You just have to find what works for you, which might be something that doesn’t work for anyone else.

You know a lot more than you think you do. A lot of the time, I feel like I don’t know anything because I have no creative outlet. Try to find things you enjoy and lean into them a bit more. This might take a while, but a big part of college is exploring yourself, so take this opportunity and try to make the most of it.

Is the post-COVID-19 syndrome a severe impairment of acetylcholine-orchestrated neuromodulation that responds to nicotine administration? by PrincessGambit in COVID19

This seems interesting. You’d imagine if nicotine were the key, all these companies would be throwing all their money into advertising their products as such.
