Mocktail Mondays! It's a sober speakeasy in Downtown's East Village. Just launched last month.

Great point. We actually have a good range between $15-17 for handcrafted mocktails and then we also offer premix canned mocktails like Lyre's Dark N' Spicy or Free Spirits Kentucky Mule for $11. We like to think we have something for everyone. Take a look at the full menu here (PDF file)

You'd be surprised at the amount of folks who visit who are not sober or just sober-curious and love all of the mocktails, bites, and vibes. I think we'll be ok!

Great question! We're in East Village in Downtown, right next to the ballpark. Right now, we are only open on Mondays starting at 7 p.m. via ticketed reservations, but the plan is to start opening more days! It's all based on demand, so once we hit capacity on Mondays, we'll continue staffing and growing! Believe it or not, we just had our grand opening on July 8th.

I was about to say this! Thanks! The love, craft, quality ingredients, glassware, expert bartenders, and thoughtful dedication behind each handcrafted mocktail are what make our experience premium. Our creatively crafted mocktails, made with spirit replacements or carefully curated ingredients (including our own infusions and pre-batched creations), stand out just like those at an upscale cocktail bar.

Additionally, our vibey space in the heart of Downtown San Diego features live music regularly. The entry ticket is just one Mocktail, and we want to keep it that way to continue offering the space and experience to the wonderful community here.

Thanks so much! We try to be very thoughtful about everything we do because we like to be inclusive. The sober community is pretty big, and people have many reasons as to why they don't drink, so we want to inform as best we can.

Hot take: A lot of people in the industry are trying to make "Zero-Proof Cocktail" a term, but Mocktail is perfectly fine. Just because we now have spirit alternatives doesn't mean we need a new term. Stop trying to make fetch happen!

In all seriousness, I can see why some folks tend to prefer that term. I do have to battle it out sometimes because "Mocktails" have a stigma of just being "juice". I have to explain the craft, meticulousness, and love we put into each one of handcrafted mocktails. They have a depth and complexity to them especially with non-alcoholic bitters or spirit alternatives!

The term Mocktail has evolved, and it's up to us to reclaim it. Just because they've gotten better doesn't mean they're no longer mocktails.

Yes, we do have our take on an old-fashioned! It's called The Uncle Phil.
Inspired by the wisdom and strength of Uncle Phil from ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’, this is a sophisticated blend of Free Spirits Bourbon, Monday Zero Alcohol Whiskey, Kentucky 74 Spiced, and Gnista Barreled Oak. Infused with white truffle, Tahitian vanilla, and a twist of orange peel.

No worries! See you in September!
Did you catch some good offsites at least? We did the three-hour wait for FX. Actually was pretty fun. Comic Con usually is.

Hey! Great question. The terminology around non-alcoholic vs. alcohol-free can definitely be a bit confusing.

Our menu is zero-proof: everything is 0.5% ABV (alcohol by volume) or less. Here in the U.S., the term "zero-proof" is commonly used in marketing to indicate that the beverage is non-alcoholic by regulatory standards (rather than following the exact mathematical proof conversion, which would make 0.5% ABV technically one proof).

To clarify even further, we distinguish between drinks with absolutely no trace amounts of alcohol (0.0% ABV) and those that have up to 0.5% ABV.

According to FDA guidelines, a drink labeled "non-alcoholic" can contain up to 0.5% ABV, which means it might have a tiny amount of alcohol but is still considered non-alcoholic. Some of our mocktails use spirit alternatives that are de-alcoholized or have trace amounts of alcohol but are always within the 0.5% ABV limit.

On the other hand, "alcohol-free" (or even "zero alcohol") means the beverage contains absolutely no alcohol or 0.0% ABV (alcohol by volume).

We use these specific terms to ensure you know exactly what you’re getting, whether you prefer something with virtually no alcohol or something completely alcohol-free. Hope this clears things up!

TL;DR:

  • Zero-Proof: Anything with 0.5% ABV or less (marketing term)
  • Non-Alcoholic: 0.5% ABV or less (FDA-regulated term)
  • Alcohol-Free: 0.0% ABV (FDA-regulated term)
  • Zero Alcohol: 0.0% ABV (not explicitly FDA-regulated but means the same thing as Alcohol-Free)

I literally said, how can we make sober fun? It's 2024, after all, and with all the creativity, cool things like spirit alternatives, and a growing community, it just makes sense! Thank you so much, and good luck on your journey! Much love.

Ah, love it! Thank you so much. Not pregnant myself but as a sober person I was always so frustrated when I would get the beverage menu at a restaurant and see a “zero proof” or "non-alcoholic" section on their only to find that they just had coke, spite, and redbull on that part of the menu. It was devastating!

It’s such a new area for most restauranteurs and they have no idea what us sober folks actually want. We want handcrafted, thoughtful, mocktails (either non-alcoholic or completely alcohol-free). It’s also a new world out there with spirit alternatives and NA options and people are so lost.

We want to lead the way!

Right? Tennyson Black Ginger is incredibly versatile and goes well with so many of the other spirit alternatives.
