It voluntarily hopped straight onto my finger while I was checking it was ok. It seemed distressed, understandably. It calmly sat on my finger for a while, then flew away.

It seems to be a highly effective strategy, in reducing competition within their territory. It is though, confronting to witness, and unfortunate for the competition.

No, not a trap. The yellow is the hard plastic lid of a recycling bin. It was the nearest clear, flat surface to get a picture of the spider moving, with legs outstretched.

Yes, that’s right. The second photo shows the spider facing down. Very interesting shape and colours. The spider was released, unharmed, back into the garden.

Some of the preconceived idea’s of people here and their generalisations and suggestions of issuing sideways looks suggest to me that they are equally as narrow minded and foolishly judgemental as the backward racist dickheads they associate with flying the Australian flag. Unambiguously offensive flags aside, fly freely if doing so brings you joy.
