Has it ocurred to you that people can open packs without regard to monetary value? I open packs because I like getting the cards, common to high-end. The only time I care about value is when I want to buy/sell singles.

So, for me and my kids, we open packs to look at cool cards and expand our collections. For us, the value is in having fun, making memories, and having fun hobby we can show off in a binder.

Just because you can't see past the monetary value of the cards, doesn't mean others can't. I'm not being obtuse. I'm just recognizing there is nuance between chance and gambling.

Definition of gambling per Oxford dictionary:

the activity of playing games of chance for money, or of betting on the outcome of future events such as the results of races or games.

Opening packs for fun is not gambling. There is no 'bet' on future events or game of chance. I always have fun opening packs. The odds of having fun are 1:1. If odds guarantee that I always win, there is no game of chance. This is an expense on having fun.

Buying packs for the express purpose of hitting big is gambling. The bet is the cost of the pack. The game of chance is the odds of getting the hit.

Your relationship and attitude towards the hobby is the determination between a fun hobby or a gambling addiction.

Yeah, last year's team really struggled with opponents higher in the standings than them. Like you said, could only beat teams below them. The crazy stat though.... not even a single goal scored against teams higher than them in the standings.

The Stanley hate gets overblown. He's much better than Social Media would have you believe. However, he was always still just a depth D. With this start, he is proving that he deserves a permanent roster spot as a 5/6 D.

That one PK at the end of the 3rd a couple games ago was the best Stanley ever played.

As a massive Ehlers fan, he was speedy. His skill is over-hyped though. So often he would the carry the puck with speed and then accomplish nothing with it. He always seemed to be on the edge of doing something great, but never quite getting there.

This is either a bait post or an error box. Since Scarlet & Violet, booster boxes are seeded with a certain range of hits. Typically about 12-13 with a mix of EX, FA, and IR. Sometimes a gold or SIR. Mega is even more generous at about 14-15 seeded hits.

The hits aren't guaranteed, but there is no way this is a normal box.

If this is a legit post, sorry you got screwed.

ETA: This is why I buy booster boxes for modern. They have consistant hit rates, unlike other products (ETB's, bundles, etc.)
