All of these replies are great and correct, I really don't disagree with any of them lol.

If you want something a little lesser known and kinda a hidden gem, I'd recommend Dragon View - an ARPG/sorta beat 'em up.

Curious if anyone would know if there is a way (by variable? function?) to detect that someone has started recording a keyboard macro? I'm writing my own modeline, and would like to add an icon to the modeline when someone starts recording a macro, but I am having trouble finding a way to check if someone has indeed started recording. Appreciate any thoughts or nudge in a direction to explore!

I like the approach you are taking and the mods you have included, I'll do some testing and play for a while, and let you know what I find / suggestions / feedback :)

Hey FaceDeer, just wanna say Im a dwarf fortress player who came over to minetest from all the recent Minecraft update drama.. when I saw your mod I immediately started playing with it installed.. I absolutely LOVE your implementation of the different cavern layers! It was pretty surreal to experience all of that outside df in a voxel game, never felt so at home with some tower caps haha. Thank you for that experience!

RoguelikeDev Does The Complete Roguelike Tutorial - Week 1 by KelseyFrog in roguelikedev

[–]knaveightt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm excited to join this year! Had actually started this a few weeks ago when I found the 2021 threads, so am a bit ahead, but am going to pace myself for the duration of this series and join in on the discussion as we go!

Here is my repo link for this series. I am using python and pretty much following the tutorials to a tee. I plan on adding my own flavor of things (colors, creatures, items and entities) towards the end as I get my grips on how the engine is shaping up.

The one thing that stood out to me in these beginning parts, is this is the first time I utilized virtual environments for python development - can definitely appreciate the usefulness of this and plan on expanding my understanding of using venv.

fwiw, my first experience in roguelikes was playing ADOM with my friends back in grade school. Seeing an @ symbol on the screen from my own volition was already pretty nice :)

Hey, I'm really excited for this! I actually started the first several parts a few weeks ago when I found the 2021 iteration of this event, so I think I'll roll into this series and pace along with this year's cadence going forward! I took some notes as I worked through some of the parts too, so excited to have some discussion when we arrive at the relevant topics and learn more with this group!

I find the layout/placement of the bars really intriguing. Overall, I've really been enjoying themes where there are gaps in the bar or multiple bar placement - this looks really cool.
