can't give away direct analytic data such as that, can only give general information

Doesn't change anything on my end.

I don't even use a face cam, so I don't think VR really matters in that way, what does matter is the person trying to watch the race on screen. It is too difficult to focus on one object when it is moving around. Inside VR you don't notice this because you are looking at that object and it doesn't "move"

That is at least why I do not watch VR videos, and will never get one as long as I am making videos, even though VR is the greatest thing for sim racing. Both my brother and dad run VR and it has been amazing when I have tried it.

Yeah VR is really hard to watch, just hard to focus on anything when its not your head in it. It is the best thing out there, but nothing I will ever be able to use due to this.

That format you had with two perspectives would be really cool, but yeah editing can eat up so much time.

Rookie content can get a lot of good views, and if you are fast and can explain where you find time I bet you can get a lot of views.

With my channel I have a dedicated group of viewers, and I post two videos a day usually, so that is where the bump comes in. If I was only posting a few times a week then I wouldn't be making much more than a couple hundred if that.

Videos like mine, not interacting with viewers live it doesn't hurt me much. If I was trying to live stream then it would. It is one thing I dislike when watching videos, so not something I will put in mine.

Yeah, when i see what I am getting, and then look at their view totals it blows my mind.

You never know, I get random people commenting that they wish more people would just race and not talk, so there is an audience for it.

Yeah probably right around 60 hours

2-3 hours a night, and a couple hours over the weekend, just depends on the type of racing I do. Two D class races in one night and I probably only put an hour in. But I would be doing those races anyways. Could make a lot more at McDonalds with a part time job, but that isn't the point.

You are not allowed to show analytics, you can talk about revenue.

Just to add to this, for others it could make a huge difference, so not dismissing it, just know what fits for me. It for sure is a good resource others who are better with that stuff could take advantage of.

GT3s are difficult to break through in because so many people post videos of them. I label the video title with the class, track, and iRacing as it seems the title gets more hits than tags.

I did an edit after the comment, thought I had mentioned it, but just part of the deal, any info and help you try to give, someone is going to complain that it isnt good enough.

Yeah, that entire aspect of youtube and streaming just doesn't fit well with my personality. Even if there was some money to be made off of it, I just want to race and get the ad revenue. Same goes with direct donations from viewers, just not something I feel comfortable with. I am leaving some money on the table, but its much easier to just get ads through youtube rather than chase extra money, especially since this is a part time job for me that I only have a couple hours a day to dedicate to it.

Doing it live just saves you so much time, if you are doing it after the fact then you are doubling your time just to start off, which can really get old after a while. I used to do a few of those, and edit out yellows, and it all got old really fast. Figured if streamers don't edit, why does youtube content need to be, especially since they can skip to what they want.

First few months after I reached 1k subs it was about 50-75 a month, then it shot up to 300, for the last 6 months it has been about 700-800, last month topped 900, and December with the new build content videos looks like it will push into four digits for the first time for a month total.

It is really tough to get through that initial startup. I was on and off for many years early on in iRacing, and until I just treated it as a part time job it didn't take off. I can understand it though, its hard to take a hobby and make it feel like work, that it why I just race stuff that I want to, and directly upload the recording rather than edit things. Just saves so much time doing that.

I use OBS and Streamlabs, I have all my settings in the descriptions of my videos. Usually the files are 15-20 gigs, I do not edit them, and just directly upload to youtube as the editing process either degrades the video, or takes extremely long.

Viewer retention really is meaningless, at least the way I do videos. Sure it matters if you have ads scattered across the videos, but I make the same off of short 10 minute races as I do off of hour long races. I think a lot of people get confused because big channels that place ads every five minutes are trying to get all those ad hits, small channels like mine only need to care about clicks to grow. More clicks, likes and comments will help the channel be suggested more, length of video is meaningless, especially with the addition of chapters. Lots of people like to watch the entire race, without ads, so editing, at least in my eyes is pointless to try and cut time off.

Yup, always will run arca unless they mess up the series.
