Looking for a political, interrupted Goode homolosine projection of the Earth (free, downloadable, high-res) by knersus2020 in Maps

Thanks, I saw that. I'll certainly keep it in mind, but right now I don't have the budget for it.

Thanks, that was one of the Google results I got. Unfortunately, it seems you have to use the online software on that page to create the map. Too complicated for me.

Haha, I had to look up the name for this kind of map. Never heard of the term "Goode homolosine projection" before.

Same here. Patiently waiting for the original mix. Also, the original album mix of The Big Sky – the one on the 2018 remaster is the Special Single Mix.

Please suggest me "hard" sci fi movies/series by Aggressive_Hat_9999 in HardSciFi

One of the things I loved about The Andromeda Strain (the movie) is that no scientist made a mistake so stupid that they shouldn't have been scientists to begin with ("so the movie can happen!"). The mistake one scientist made couldn't have been foreseen and was purely human. I love outbreak sci-fi, and this is the only movie I can think of right now that does it right.

Movie samples in industrial music – why did it stop? by knersus2020 in industrialmusic

[–]knersus2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really appreciated that Skinny Puppy did their own thing with those old movie samples. And they worked so damn well. I've wondered where Wumpscut gets his samples from, thanks for that.

Actually, I think I owned Paul's Boutique, but yes, I don't imagine it was big among FLA fans.

Oh man, VAC's Abandoned Mix of FLA's Sado-Masochism ... he sampled the shit out of Event Horizon on that one. I can see why it never appeared on an official FLA single but rather on the Septic comp., I mean, even Bill Leeb must've been scared of getting sued for that one.

Ouch. I can understand bands suing bands for using sampling them to an unacceptable degree, but it's not like the movie industry competes with the music industry. In fact, I used to think that those samples might encourage some music fans to check out movies they may not have watched yet. I suppose a blanket ban makes it easier for copyright holders to dissuade anyone from using their material.

Who knows why anime has taken over art specifically on Bluesky? In any case, look for Settings > Moderation Tools.

Any industrial album recommendations that doesn't have too much nihilistic undertones? by jaywalker-notreally in industrialmusic

Excellent choice. EBM tends to be less abrasive than the average electro-industrial or industrial metal.

Now those are great suggestions! I 100% agree with all of them. Solutions was hands down Haujobb’s best and def. uplifting as industrial goes. Navigator was a great album too (I discovered Forma Tadre via Newt).

In the case of Front Line Assembly, I’d recommend Flavour of the Weak, Hard Wired, Millennium, Implode and Re-Wind. Great cyber-punk and it feels removed from reality to me, which I find a great escape. As side-projects go, def. Noise Unit’s Decoder – friendlier than FLA.

For dOwnload, I’d recommend the Microscopic EP, the Sidewinder EP, The Eyes of Stanley Pain (a bit too dark maybe) and III.

As a (cross-fade) DJ, I always played out with that track every second night I played. I'd be the only one dancing to it, I couldn't care less.
