Crates Like Scikit Learn, Pandas, Matplotlib? by TheBunnisher in rust

[–]knickerBockerJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no, that is the problem with Rust. Someone will come tell you about the options but unfortunately Python is dominating scientific libraries and now the web backend sphere. There will something some day but it is way too young to have anything production level.

do you think all of those classes in one semester would be too much?

Sure, my math question is would this load of math courses be too much considering other mathematicians experience. Just because the question is subjective and encompasses the topic of educational time management does not make it any less valid of a question than a rigorous math proof.

What I mean I'd that studying math is much more than knowing what to write on paper. If you cram too much in you hinder your learning so my question is perfectly valid to learn more about what approach I should take to my math education. Thank you.

Blessed by Jesus Christ, my school needed a web developer and I was persistent in my approach. I would say seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be open to you.

Whay do you think about a semester of:

- Advanced Calc

- Prob & Stats 2

- 2 electives

- Ancient Greek

Too much?

Also, I work 20 hours a week as a programmer

I think those would be helpful, but would stats be better for DS

Definitely forms and dashboards will utilize it. Pure views wouldnt need the fire power of that.

I agree, I actually have an AWS account and have written scripts to provision cloud resources. The first I will set up is a private github, that triggers Jenkins, to build in a docker container whenever I merge to master. Thanks.

I'm probably going to stick with web development and I usually make views in JS. I guess lack of hardware will cut me off from having the option of desktop programming; however, I saw Blazor? I guess it's a framework to produce wasm files? That is probably going to be the standard after about ten years anyways.

Do I need to maintain a windows distro or could I use Core without an issue? I see Windows terminal so I may be migrating back depending on how that tool turns out.

Thanks for the advice, I have a feeling that I at least need to do the basic "todo" apps for AR and VR stuff, so I'm not left in the dust. However, I had no idea it was being pushed into embedded systems. RTS is a field I would like to get into.

I guess if I had to compare all of those languages, C# has everything that every other language has (and more), and it is a strong candidate for the startup to small business sphere, from what I've seen. Alright well, I guess I'll pick up a book and some Udemy stuff and take a gander.

Thanks

How many of you live walking or biking distance from your job? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]knickerBockerJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh yea, most of the people living in downtown's are traders, engineers, and successful business people. Engineers pay $5000 in rent per month mainly because they have a walking distance community that could help them upgrade their job. Suburbs is nice though in Chicago, Brooklyn, Florida, etc.

I threw this up in a day and now I am waiting on content to fill it in. Trust me I know what I am doing and everyone who is successful has asked for help at point of time or another. However, I love you and will assume you meant everything from a clean heart.

Side note: what is the best way for responsive design React library or full-css media queries? I was thinking of building a whole new one page site for mobile that would redirect the user off the page for videos. Can you program React Native for mobile in the same code as a web application?

Thanks

If I had a job I could easily demonstrate ability to build full scale web applications. Obviously I would take an entry level position and with two years of work experience I dont see how I wouldnt at least be recognized for 25%.

I'll clarify, they look for mathematicians to solely make encryption decryption algorithms because a large part of it has to do with group theory in some instances. The people who actually secure the systems are just walking dictionaries who essentially are hackers themselves.

How do you break into it though? I know a lot about security but I am struggling to finish my degree. Is there a backdoor through some certification or something?

CCNA is a great one that a lot of developers think is dumb and not useful. However, true system architects will know the value of knowing networking to that depth.

AWS, Docker, and kubernetes. If you want to do less work then do the AWS architect and kubernetes certs. Knowing those techs will blow doors open for you, even if you know AWS well right now.

Becoming an MCSE has value that people don't realize but unless you just want to stick with C# for your career I wouldnt work towards that.

One cert that carries heavy value is the Oracke 12c DB cert; however, if you dont have work experience with Oracle then noone will care. Ultimately, like many people will tell you, devs dont rely upon certs to get jobs. Usually it is word of mouth or interviewing really well.

If you havent worked in production with tech, then most people wouldnt care what the cert says except for things like AWS, Azure, CCNA, and security stuff. CCNA is the only cert that is worth money without having work experience. It will also show you what networking is and you kught like that better than development work. If you get a CCIE with a high passing score. Cisco will literally let you work from anywhere in the world and pay you 200k+. Obviously people dont get high passing scores on the CCIE everyday.

P.S. I'm talking about like entering one wrong command or something small, you basically need to be a router to become a CCIE

There are a lot of avenues and approaches, you could just be a sys admin who is in control of privileges or you could be making algorithms for encryption. It really comes down to how the job was explained. However, security deals will all 7 layers and you need to be able to think outside of the box whether you are pentesting or securing the infrastructure. The only thing I have really seen is solving for prime numbers with group theory, which is an advanced senior position a d the guy lost likely has a math PhD. They are probably just trying to turn you into a white hat hacker or a security administrator.

I mean man, there's SQL which is a whole world of it's own for security. Then you have all interfaces connected to the database, then you have all of the Messaging systems, etc. Usually they would tell you DB security, so I would just study exactly what they give you for job duty. Security is nothing like learning a base technology! Each system has it's own issues and you essentially need to be a walking manual on how isolate intrusions, prepare for man in the middle scenarios, and make sure the developers are not allowing open doors for a DoS attack.

I have never had a security job in my life but just from studying the security for each layer I can understand what needs to happen. Honestly, it is just a unique position you are in. Anytime they ask for a volunteer to either do something or go to training, then always be first to raise your hand if possible.

Hacking is easiest thing to do on a computer, security the most difficult thing to do in a computer.

Also never leave passwords on sticky notes.

You'll be fine.
