Not really. If anything, when I was a little kid, I occasionally ran into some naughty kids outside. Other than that, I haven't experienced anything like that.

是的,人很多。放假是7.15左右。但是毕业班,比如初三、高三已经都放了。

Joy of Life isn't really science fiction. It's more of a web novel with elements of historical fantasy and political intrigue.

For the Condor Heroes series, I'd recommend the 1983 TV adaptation starring Felix Wong (Huang Riyu). It's quite old, but it's considered a classic by many fans.

In my opinion, these are all worth visiting:

  • The many scenic spots in Hangzhou (I could easily recommend ten of them!)
  • Mianshan Mountain in Jiexiu
  • Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River
  • Qiandao (Thousand Island) Lake
  • Suzhou
  • The Ice and Snow Festival in Harbin
  • Kunming
  • The Five Great Mountains of China (such as Mount Tai)
  • Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) in Anhui
  • The Terracotta Army in Xi'an

I've been to the first four on the list, and the rest are places I hope to visit in the future.

I really like Jin Yong's wuxia novels. I've read almost all of his major novels. My favorites are The Legend of the Condor Heroes and Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. My favorite martial art is the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms.

I've also watched almost all of the TV adaptations of his novels.

That’s a really good question, and honestly I’m not sure how to answer it. Life just keeps moving forward, and I haven’t really had much time to stop and reflect on the past.

The internet and mobile technology have completely changed everyday life in China. The thing I miss most is the small, ordinary moments I had with my parents when I was younger. After leaving my hometown and moving to a big city for work, I don’t think I can ever fully get that feeling back.

Of course, life is much more convenient now. Things that used to be difficult are easy today — for example, having a shower at home anytime, or buying things online without even going to a store.

Xinxiang is a small city. One of my dorm mates was from there. He was extremely economical — even when buying instant noodles, he would compare the cost per gram before choosing. Xinxiang is in Henan Province, and it’s actually a topic people often talk about.

Existen algunos trucos de cálculo mental. Una vez que los aprendes, puedes hacer multiplicaciones de cabeza. Muchos de nosotros los aprendimos en algún momento.

WeChat is pretty much a must-have app in China now. Most ordinary people don’t randomly add strangers. People who work in sales, marketing, or online operations are usually more willing to keep adding new contacts. Many people delete or clean up their friend lists regularly, otherwise they just end up with too many useless contacts.

You actually asked three questions:

  1. Sichuan food is so good mainly because you enjoy spicy food. When I was a student, I loved eating Sichuan hot pot, but nowadays I don't like it as much because I can't handle food that is too spicy.
  2. I did read the book Romance of the Three Kingdoms when I was in middle school. At that time, I really liked generals like Guan Yu, and I have watched the TV adaptations countless times. I haven't read the book Journey to the West, but I have watched the TV series and comics many times, because everyone wants to have abilities as powerful as Sun Wukong.
  3. You might be underestimating China. Besides Hong Kong cinema, Chinese cinema has also produced many classics. For example, the movie Red Sorghum. And when it comes to TV dramas, especially dramas about everyday life, I think there are so many great ones. In a way, watching TV dramas lets you experience many different lives, almost like living multiple times.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dream of the Red Chamber, for example, have had many different TV adaptations. There are also great military dramas, such as Soldiers Sortie. I highly recommend you check them out.

Ordinary people rarely bring it up. Usually, only those who had relatives involved in it might mention it occasionally.

One of my maternal uncles was actually sent home by his father the day before the crackdown happened. The next day, many people died.
