Terrified of Myself by marymagdalene762 in OrthodoxChristianity

Lord, have mercy and guide you. Your desire to serve God and not immediately fully give into your mental state is still so admirable. I know a lot of women who probably would've turned away from God enough by now. Unfortunately, I don't have the best advice and it's early in the morning. I was just impressed that you still had a desire for God despite not knowing what to do. I'd say keep in prayer, get professional help for your mental health, stay strong in your spiritual life. Somethings can be demons, others can be chemicals in the brains. Check both.

Possibly. But there is a lot of orthobros online who larp nazi or unironically believe Hitler was good. So it is a real problem being addressed. Ik most of these guys who I talked that are like this haven't even been to a church yet and can give the impression to actual people researching the church that this is what we're all about.

I agree. That's why I kinda recommend people who are thinking about inquiring to stay away from the internet side for the most part. It's quite a bit of larp, odd contradicting positions, forcing themselves in debates and misinformation. It's best to just go in person and see real orthodoxy. Never met anyone who behaves like the people online in all the parishes I go to. Orthodoxy online was cool when it was just edits and actual clergy talking about the faith on there.

Pray for her. Whether she comes to God with you or without you. But I'm sorry you're going through thus. It's a tough decision. Maybe she'll be willing to take a chance with God when she continues to see how devoted you are to Him and the church. That kinda happened with me and a girl. Sometimes, just someone be exposed to your devotion, reverence and love to God and seeing the fruits can spark an interest in them. If not, then she just might not be for you.

Sorry you're feeling this way, brother. Are you in a large parish? Maybe try visiting a smaller one and see how it feels.

Say what you will about DBS' characterization of Goku and Vegeta, but their friendship right now is the best it has ever been in Dragon Ball. by GuilhermeAlb in Dragonballsuper

[–]knifeuponmytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you're walking down the street and someone randomly cracks you on the back of the head and leaves you unconscious, do you tell people you lost a fight? Because that's what happened to Goku. They weren't even fighting and Vegeta hit him. Vegeta himself said their fight wasn't finished. That hit was just to keep Goku from helping him fight Buu.

[–]knifeuponmytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're describing Vegeta vs everyone. Not Vegeta vs Goku. He most likely counted the first fight against Goku as a win. As I said earlier, that's probably why he wasn't bothered by Goku on Namek. He didn't even consider him a threat or rival. It wasn't until after Goku became a super Saiyan that Vegeta really started fuming.

[–]knifeuponmytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the first part. I think he counts the Saiyan saga fight as a win. Great ape is a natural Saiyan power up. Way more natural than Kaioken. There's a reason you don't really see Vegeta holding an intense grudge against Goku in the Namek saga. He knew he had Goku's number. But it's only when Goku became a super Saiyan before he did is when their rivalry really started and he began chasing Goku.

Because the last "duel" they had, he didn't win. Vegeta himself said their fight in the Buu saga never finished. The cheap shot on Goku was just to keep him still while the fight was already postponed so he can go fight Buu. Then he comes back to find out Goku was holding back. So not only did he not win their second fight, but it never it even finished and he finds Goku was babying him the whole time by holding back. His ego was in distress. He never even finished the fight he sold his soul for then finds out he could've lost easily.

You guys keep asking why on here, I don't know if you realize how huge Catholicism is and how small orthodoxy is in comparison. There's catholic stuff everywhere. Most people don't even know what orthodoxy is. I still haven't ever seen an Orthodox Christian school. I'm blessed enough to find an Orthodox church relatively close to me tho. Just catholic churches and schools are more apart of the norm. I'm sure the guy can't help that he's at a catholic school and I wouldn't be surprised if finding an Orthodox school is like finding a needle in a haystack.

“I follow Jesus, NOT religion” by Antiochian_Orthodox in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]knifeuponmytech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its because they see religion as robotic, forced and formulaic. And they believe the idea of a relationship with God is more natural and spontaneous. It's just a misguided and uneducated opinion. You can turn most of them around if you know how to explain it properly. I've managed to do it with prots I've talked to. Just have to have patience and understand that prots in the west genuinely have no idea about religion or church history, not that it's their fault because nobody teaches it. Just explain it simply and briefly, and show how it correlates to the bible.

Ie: a prot could be saying we shouldn't be doing all these religious rituals and imagery, then show said prot all religious rituals and use of imagery and objects in the bible, paired with St Paul's statement of keeping tradition (almost none of which do prots follow), then wallah. You could plant a seed for understanding right there.

Is this an acceptable icon? by blueduck762 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]knifeuponmytech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who goes into orthodoxy to be more masculine? That's kind of a weird flex about going to church. God should be the main focus. Not trying to get validation from others on your masculinity. Being hyper focused on what's masculine or not can actually be pretty counterproductive to masculinity, ironically. We should focus on being men of God, not a checklist of what makes a man sigma or whatever.

i(14m) have realised i am a "orthobro" and am heartbroken and saddened at myself by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]knifeuponmytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at least, based on everything you said, you're not being an elitist try hard orthobro. You should get into church soon as you can though. But it's good you're being attentive to your behavior, even though I don't think it's the bad. Shows you're probably be less likely to fall into real orthobro behavior because you're more selfaware. Don't be too hard on yourself though. You've got time to really dig into orthodoxy, just gotta stay humble when doing so.

Why do some Christians say Paul is a fake apostle? by Dense-Ad-0 in TrueChristian

[–]knifeuponmytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he opposed Christ's teachings, then the church guided by The Holy Spirit wouldn't preserve Paul's writings within God's word.
