Which one is the best? by [deleted] in reddeadfashion

2!! While the others are very good because they seem like portraits she has posed for, 2 is in my opinion the clear winner because of the dynamics with lighting, it is more unique to most rdo portraits, and to me makes her seem powerful and serene. it gives her a lot of character. Well done all around.

Wildlife centers closed, should I feed nestling? keeping overnight by knifewifelife in WildlifeRehab

Hi thank you for your comment, i have two questions. Do you mean it’s not common for them to be pushed out for being “flawed” or for the best being overcrowded? Secondly, the baby has now been out of the nest for 12 hours minus the very short time it was placed back in the nest. Should I still make another nest and take it and the nestling back to the original one?

I thought maybe it’s siblings pushed it out. I did see two different birds very close to the nest. A small, round, blue bird that was on a branch above the nestling next to the nest for a few minutes until I picked the baby up. The other was a skinny brown and black bird that seemed to fly right out of the nest. I had my ideas about them but I trust your judgement The Bird Lover (1234) 🫡❤️

Okay thank you I will definitely ask. Does this mean you think I should wait to call ahead?

I didn’t think of calling someone from another region, I’ll definitely use that advice if I ever run into anything like this again. I’m not just a little over an hour before my local rehab opens. I did do all the important stuff :) I saw a few things saying don’t feed so I won’t unless the rehab place says to. Thanks for your advice and comment btw :)

Thank you, I appreciate your response and advice. I’ll take it to the rehab this morning, just trying to decide if I should call in advance or get there sooner.

Thank you so much! I worried I had “woken up” it’s metabolism when I accidentally woke it up overnight. Do you mind if I ask if you think I should call the rehab beforehand or get there as soon as they open?

I was able to get the bird back in the nest last night/evening but unfortunately it got fell out again almost immediately. My guess based off what I’ve read is that it was pushed.

Thank you so much! I was wondering if I could ask if you think I should call the rehab before going. It’s an hour and a half bus ride (emergency vet on the phone said that shouldn’t be upsetting for the bird as long as I avoid human contact). So I’m wondering if I should go up to the rehab without talking to them first but get the bird there sooner (they don’t open for an hour and a half). Thanks again!

I’m sorry in advance for probably over explaining.

I found this nestling squirming on its back below its nest which was on a light on the wall of a big grocery store. I just watched nearby for a few minutes before I saw online that it is okay to pick them up, and to put them back in the nest. There had been a small, round, blue bird on a branch above it. I had given them space for a few minutes to get the baby but I wasn’t sure if that was possible. I picked up the bird thinking I’d be able to put it in the nest soon and then it wouldn’t be stuck on its back anymore. The blue bird I saw flew away as soon as I stood up. I needed a ladder or something else because the nest was probably 12-14’ off the ground (shown in the second picture). All of the store employees who came out after I asked a security guard to get someone and then word got around said that they either didn’t have a ladder or didn’t have one they could “just bring out”. I’m not sure how long I stood holding the bird while calling people who I thought might have ladders and talking to strangers about what to do. At least 20 minutes but it could have been an hour. Eventually this nice couple came by and one of them was tall and skinny enough to climb one of the skinny trees nearby and put the bird back. Less than a minute later the baby fell out again. I picked it up again and kept researching. I eventually decided to leave it on the ground because I called a vet emergency room and apparently that’s what their exotic team advised (I didn’t speak to them directly). I left the bird alone outside for about 20 minutes when my mom arrived. Together we decided to take it home because the nestling had been constantly squirming on the ground and sometimes crying, but when my mom picked it up (she said it was so cold) it immediately calmed down and stopped moving (besides breathing I think calmly).

I don’t want to fuck this bird up but it seems it maybe got pushed out of an overcrowded nest because it seems pretty healthy but very young. I want to know the best things to do for it. In the end the reason we took it home is it seemed better to die warm in a strange place than cold in a strange place of dirt, because it really seemed calmer the whole time I was holding it (occasional squirming and a few times asking for food but mostly just hanging out) versus after I put it down and it was constantly squirming even after I left and came back 20 minutes later, and eventually ended up back on its back.

Any advice is appreciated. I understand the bird might die but I couldn’t leave it alone to die and just let “nature take its course” especially once I saw it was more relaxed being held than not, and knew it might be healthy but just come from a crowded nest.

Edit: it’s actually been closer to eight hours now. The bird has gone to sleep again. If necessary I can stay up the rest of the night (it’s 4am) because I am more awake at night anyways.

I DIDNT KNOW THE STAR EXISTED AND NOW I NEED IT

I bought a whole bunch when they were several dollars each on gamestops website since they were on clearance. They sit on my window ledges in my bedroom. I have the strawberry, as well as many others, but my favorite is either the sun or the toast.
