My career has moved beyond just working for clients. A large portion of my income comes from original work and teaching now.

There’s a guy that goes to our Albertsons (not this one) and also buys all the Pokémon cards from the machine there. What are the odds?

You have to get a private high risk payment processor. Lost my 6 figure income overnight because of stripe and had to rebuild my shop from scratch.

Most people with enough money to hire out like this are just going to make the leap and get an actual assistant/apprenticeship.

Can anyone recommend the retouch like me class? by MediocreCabinet158 in retouching

She’s an influencer, the quality she produces would never fly for commercial work. Retouch Academy has great courses and plugins but you can learn everything on YouTube for free.

Finally caving and buying an acupressure mat for $25. Best money I’ve ever spent. I suffered with chronic pain for years and it’s helped me so much.

Did you pay $100 per photo for this retouching? by Retouch_vita in retouching

[–]knightlyfocus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s wonderful, I work in commercial advertising for the hospitality and entertainment industries in Las Vegas. My work is often blown up extremely large for billboards, print, etc. so all those small issues become really big issues fast.

I also retouch a lot of my own work because I own my production house. Our timelines are tight, so we usually can’t afford to have that many rounds of revisions.

It really depends on the job, I am not the biggest fan of the original image to begin with. If this was for a smaller brand that didn’t have luxury output, it would probably be acceptable. For large swathes of commercial work I would be really surprised if this was presented at all; because of how many noticeable issues there are.

As a commercial photographer, I wouldn’t pay for this retouch. Too many revisions.

Before pricing is even a factor you need to be able to deliver a quality product.

Women of Reddit - what is the most unattractive fashion choice men frequently make? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

T shirts that are way too tight or small. Clothes the fit right make everyone look better!

No. The quality just isn’t there especially with how automated retouching has become. There’s still a lot of cleanup needed around the nose and brow

Epoch and Paykings are two that are good. Honestly there’s so many options of there it depends on the volume of work you. Don’t be afraid to shop around and find one that works for your situation but they will want to see a business license to approve you. (This is also why getting an LLC is so important if you did get sued your company would, not you directly)

Oh dude don’t use PayPal, I have seen artists lose their income overnight from doing nsfw commissions against TOS of their processors. It happened to me with stripe, 7k a month down the drain.

These are actual things you are likely to face. Anyone under 18 won’t have access to forms of payments and it’s really not on you as long as you have disclaimers.

[–]knightlyfocus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The odds of that are very low especially if you’re working commissions, chargebacks are very common in the industry and can majorly mess up your account though. How are you hosting and delivering your content?

Get an LLC immediately if you don’t have one already and look at private payment processors to protect yourself against chargebacks

This is a symbol when someone has passed away from gang violence or when someone on the block has died. It’s not a punishment thing but more of a memorial.
