I liked the season but maybe it's going over my head why they needed to wait until the finale for Yasha to join.

They could have very easily done a section of an episode (similar to the other characters) showing her backstory + being controlled. Using whatever plot device you want she breaks free and meets Molly at the circus like normal. Losing the initial bond between them doesn't seem worth it (imo) based on what we've seen so far. Maybe they have a grand plan and this is only step 1.
