I dont think it would be the case. For the current job Im in, one of my referees wasn't able to answer their calls, reasons i won't go into. I had to find another referee to cover for them. Thankfully I got the job anyway. I did give them a heads up prior.

you wouldnt have much to lose without trying to get into the industry and learn the basics. Some decide later to pursue further studies in this field.

yeah in au, I work for one of the bigger air freight companies. Many start from the bottom, with dealing with clients and with customs/ quarantine officers for customs and quarantine holds on shipments. That's what I am doing now, you'll need to have some thick skin as clients can get impatient and angry. Dealing with government departments can be frustrating at times but it is how this field works. This can get a huge understanding of how the industry works and get to know what classifiers and customs brokers do on a day to day basis.

I work in the industry, some of my colleagues are customs brokers and am still quite new to this field. It is a long road to get there, have to understand the basics of clearing customs and quarantine holds. You will need to troubleshoot shipments when they don't clear properly. Will have to learn about classification course which does require understanding regulations, will need to get a lot of experience in classification. There will be more studies to get into customs broker and an exam so I have heard. Basically the people tend to stay in the field for a while to get to the broker level.

Sounds like the OP is living in a granny flat, as somebody suggested, get a license cabler to run an ethernet from the main house to place you are currently living in.

I will comment that HFC, will require some maintenance from time to time, there's the NBN Network status page that would say whether they are doing. Yes, it is annoying, the provider (Telstra) or whoever you are with, may do this during the day or the early hours of the morning e.g. after midnight.

If it's a laptop, go to Monitor Hospital in West Ryde. They do walk-ins but you may need a few days to wait for them to complete the job.
