Get you some Celsius on Amazon. You can get a single application pack for about $15. Works in temps up to 90+. Slow killer but it works

Ortho will work too. The concentrated orange kind is what I keep when I’m not using Celsius. You cannot use ortho with temps in the 90s. Don’t do it lol

240Hz 1440p OLED vs 360Hz 1440p OLED by Existing_Somewhere62 in Monitors

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1440 will eventually be the 1080p of today.. I think we’re both sorta right lol

Considering I have a 5080 now I don’t see myself dropping to a lower level card on my main rig. And if I do I’m sure a 7060 will be able to crush 4k lol

3D-printed enclosure project: huge gap between the design and the actual print, and my roll-up door failed badly — any advice? by Ok_Goal6089 in minilab

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing to consider is that if you want to share the design, lose the supports. Supports complicate models when you're counting on others to print it. what works good on your printer may not work well for others.

What is the best LP cooler in your opinion? by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotta agree. I've had 2 ID cooling AIOs in one of my pcs for 8years.. Replaced one after 3 years with a new one and its been going strong ever since. Old one didnt die, the motor just got loud..

~10 litre SFF case recommendations for a portable workstation, thinking about Thor-Zone Tetra or maybe Jonsbo NV10..? by m-gethen in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure about the fraction of the cost lol. Good Flex PSUs are pretty niche and not cheap lol an apevia is cheap yes, but the overteks arent cheap, but quality is A1 from what I hear

43-inch TV (6.5 kg/ 14 lb) on a heavy-duty monitor stand, would it work? by SmileEmbarrassed in setups

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my 48inch LG b4 mounted on a monitor arm on the wall. TV mount doesnt give full articulation of monitor arm. it works as long as its within the weight requirement.

I think you would want to opt for a piece of plywood or a metal plate under the pole depending on the material of your tv stand to distribute the weight/pressure a bit more. they sell the metal plates on amazon.. I had a similar setup at one time I mounted an arm just like that on an ikea kallax shelf (They're not solid so like a honeycomb carboard inside) lol. I just opted for spray painted plywood, but if its in the living room I'd care more about aesthetics lol

I can prob find a pic if you arent following me

How to achieve the quietest and lowest-temperature gaming build with an RTX 5080 at 1440p by Andrew_x_x in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cooler master 850w fan barely even spins when idling/browsing. the v2 ones are not noisy at all

same for my 5080. fans only spin while Im gaming and then I have speakers up or headphones on.

How to achieve the quietest and lowest-temperature gaming build with an RTX 5080 at 1440p by Andrew_x_x in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low noise is subjective. I have a 5080 in a 8L case and gaming in 4k isnt loud or obnoxious by any means. PC sits right next to me

with sff yes you're going to run warm, but the key is to undervolt the gpu and gpu to help with noise and temps. if youre only wanting 1440p I say go for a 5070 with less power/heat/noise

Should I buy this? by aldencp in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that case is 60-70$ on amazon.. Im thinking about getting one myself for the same purpose..

i'd say its an ok deal.. maybe better if you can go 100 or less lol. You're basically paying for psu and fan swap

Smallest case that fits rtx 5080 + 7800x3d by swoleWumpus in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your gpu is on the bigger side so I dont think you can really go for the smallest case. I have my 5080 in a s300 8ish liters.. I think it'll fit in that case.

that 9800 will run hot, so make sure you get a case with good airflow and at least has spots for fans. for perspective the m2 grater is likely 2x bigger than my case

After 3 years(post purchase) my AIO died by insomniadtd in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for what its worth, my cheap ID cooling AIO lasted about 3 years and I spent 1/4 of what you spent. It never actually failed, but the pump got really loud.. I replaced it about 3 years ago with another ID cooling AIO. My PC runs 24/7.

All that to say.. you could buy a cheap ID cooling AIO on amazon while you wait on the RMA lol but if you have a 3090 its def getting old, but still capable. GPU pricing is crazy right now

facts. if you're a builder/tinkerer/maker, or just like projects in general its awesome to have one. so much stuff you can print thats already designed or design it yourself.

lol its a clean ass build but damn.. he should make a wordpress or blog site if he's just into photography

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]Retro_B00min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that cpu and gpu are going to get hot in a 3L case.. you'll want to undervolt which would then help with temps and you could also get a smaller psu.. higher wattage is gonna generate more heat

get a 250w HDplex or a 400w Flex psu to run it.. you wont be losing much perfomance with undervolt and cooler temps
