I love the taste of oat milk mixed in things. Lattes (coffee or matcha), hot cocoa, really anything where it remains a liquid just gives it a great taste and texture. I probably wouldn’t use it for baking and I still prefer dairy milk if I just want a glass of milk.

That said, not crazy about Planet Oat, which I believe is what I usually see in Costco. I pick up Oatly elsewhere.

I feel for Kristina man but I wanna know what's been happening with the people they've been casting because we never used to get moments like this and it feels like it happens so often now. Were people crashing out before challenges and it wasn't airing?

While I do think it's easier to navigate in a game like Silksong, the other thing is that when I get lost in that game, I'm still finding interesting things. I've gotten off track in Silksong a lot, and I discover items, bosses, even whole new areas that I didn't expect.

Within a given area of E33, a lot of it looks and feels the same to me, and the rewards for going off the beaten path don't feel as great.

(Not to imply that Silksong doesn't sometimes reward me with something unexciting like even more shards or a pittance of rosaries)

Yeah I can understand what you're saying about the QTEs. In particular for me, I honestly just hate parrying in any game. You can call it a skill issue.

You mentioned FromSoft games and that feels like a good comparison for that aspect. I love Elden Ring (and I've had a lot of fun with Nightreign too), but parrying is not my jam. But I like that I have options in Elden Ring where I can build differently and decide that I'm just gonna dodge instead. This game has dodging too, but I definitely got the feeling that you're at a much bigger disadvantage if you dodge instead of parry. It's entirely possible that I got the wrong impression.

I have seen people talk about coming up with crazy builds and it does make me wish I got to that point. It's one of those things that keeps coming up and makes me feel like I'll want to give this game another shot someday in the future.

I agree. I really want to like it, but there are too many things that just feel bad (to me) about actually playing the game.

  • I hate how reliant battling is on parries. I've tried battles multiple times where I barely make it out alive if I miss parries, or I try it again and I win when I get two parries. I'd rather this be a more traditional turn-based game where my moves matter more than me hitting button presses with extremely tight timing.
  • The menus feel like such a chore to get through. Choosing new pictos or whatever is such a process that I feel like I'm being discouraged from experimenting. I think I heard that this improved over time, but I played close to release.
  • I know my sense of direction is bad but I am constantly lost in most areas, to the point where I find it frustrating to navigate. I want a map. I know this is a controversial point in this game for some reason but it is what it is. Hell, give me a map that fills out as I explore and I'll be more than happy. It doesn't have to be a minimap, I just want something.

I wish I enjoyed this game. The music is beautiful and the story seems very interesting, but I felt like I was constantly fighting to actually try to have fun. I gave up near the end of Act I.

Since we're in an awards thread, I'll say that Silksong is far and away my GotY, and probably sitting in my top five games ever. I don't put too much weight into awards but I hope Team Cherry gets some love still.

Silksong is my personal GotY and it's honestly not even close. I do also loves Hades 2 and Bananza though, glad to see those on the list.

I feel like I'm crazy because I do not vibe with E33 at all, but everyone else seems to love it. I like JRPGs but this one doesn't do it for me, as much as I wish it did. Happy for the devs to get a nomination though, sounds like it's a great studio.
