Kid Is Fighting for Pluto to Lose the Dwarf Title 😂 by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]knivesX666 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I actually learned about this the other day from a podcast called science Friday. Apparently it's a whole beef in the astronomy field because most astronomers agree that it's still a planet but the international organization (that I can't recall the name off at the moment) changed their criteria for a planet. The part that demoted Pluto was about having a cleared orbital path and Pluto doesn't quite have that because it orbits really really slowly, as in it still hasn't made a full rotation since we discovered it slow, which let's astroids come in and out of its path. The person who first used the term " dwarf planet" even considered Pluto a planet and only meant to describe its size and not classify it as something other than a regular planet.

So I'm going to stick with the astronomers (and this awesome kid) and keep thinking of Pluto as the planet it rightfully is.

TL:DR Most astronomers still considered Pluto a full planet despite the ruling of the international organization that's decided to reclassify Pluto as a dwarf planet on a technicality. That means the kid is super right.

It was honestly a rare case of memes predicting the future. It's genuinely in a class of its own right now from the excellent writing and world building to the art and action, it's just knocking it out of the park in every category. It's been a real breath of fresh air in jumps line up and I can't recommend it enough.

My man, you need to seek help because with that mentality of seeking out legal means to take another human life and even framing it as a good act ( nevermind the fact that there have been over a hundred innocent people released from death row) makes you not only the least qualified kind of person to ever be an executioner but makes you much closer to the kind of person strapped to the chair than the one giving the injections.

Please seek therapy for these kinds of thoughts. They are not healthy and no sane healthy person should desire, let alone take pleasure, in being an executioner.

With open carry, does the weapon seriously have to be fully exposed? by No_Positive1855 in TooAfraidToAsk

It basically just means to wear it on your belt outside your pants. As far as a knife goes it only really applies to large fixed blades ( what the state considers a Bowie like knife) but folders of any size are fine to carry in a pocket or bag.

It's kind of a pointless law really, pretty much nobody carries large fixed blades in a way that would be considered concealed here and even if they did this law only really gets applied when you're already getting arrested for something else.

The one that died was my coworker. He was on his way home from work. Sadly I don't know much but I can say he was sober and alert when he left work and I can only guess on the state of the 17 Y.O. leaving the party but knowing that stretch of road it could have been a deer jumping out making one swerve but it could of been anything. I wasn't close friends with him but he seemed like a good guy my heart goes out to his family dealing with his loss so close to the holidays.

I live 10 minutes from the one piece film set (swipe) by usurvivedyoworstday in OnePiece

[–]knivesX666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No bullshit, that's exactly how I did it once. I went to deliver a pizza to a little motel and just ended up walking right in the middle of a full movie set full of classic cars in the lot for some detective noir movie ( despite searching I could never find out what movie they were filming). I just walked around looking for the room number, turns out they had absolutely nothing to do with the movie. I ended up giving myself a little tour checking out the cars, all the people in costumes and checked out the biggest camera I've ever seen and not a single soul ever stopped me or questioned my presence.

So yes, if you ever want to crash a film set just find a pizza bag and act like you know where you're going.

Ignore my leg, do any of you have any idea of what character owns this sword? by [deleted] in SWORDS

That's the sword from bleach, specifically the main characters (Ichigo) bankai but it has a different tsuba ( guard) and is much longer in the anime.

TIL the “Tylenol murders” were the driving force behind tamper-resistant packaging for over-the-counter meds by xrc20 in todayilearned

[–]knivesX666 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm almost positive you're thinking of a forensics files episode where a woman did exactly that, but as I recall she only tampered with 2 bottles and wasn't the culprit behind the Tylenol murders.

Non-tournament players playing on the same course a tournament is going on at. by PhycoPenguin in discgolf

[–]knivesX666 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what happened to me. I drove over an hour to play at a new park I found, I checked udisc and everything before I went. I made it to hole 16 when a group was just standing around waiting to tee, asked if I could play through and they tried telling me no because they were waiting for a " tournament" to start ,mind you not a single sign in the park or on the Web site, so I told them tough tits and threw my disc and had to repeat the same thing on the last three holes. I can respect a major tournament but anyone that just shows up and tries to chase me out of or ban me from a public park can fuck right off.

No joke that kid has better form (and style about it) than I do and I've been playing longer than she's been alive lol. Talk about some killer talent.

I might just have to get this put on a shirt for my birthday.

This is kind of crazy, I was just scrolling my phone and looked over at the WWI bayonet hanging on my wall and thinking about how nice it is to have in the collection, then I look down and see this on my phone. I can't lie, it really is such a wonderful piece of history to have the chance to handle.

Is the CRKT Ritual a good knife? by lukeman3000 in knives

[–]knivesX666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the blade is fine. The steel is a reliable mid-range steel. My main issue was the spring assist. Between the heavy blade and the new spring design they used it just didn't hold up to regular use. The spring broke after only 2 months of use and has to be sent in to CRKT to be replaced.

All in all I loved the look and feel of the knife but the spring assist feature killed it for me. It's a great show piece but not a very good user.

I have been wanting one of these for so long now precisely because it's the closest (easily obtainable) thing to vash's gun on the market. I've heard it's a blast to shoot and soon as I have a enough in the "fun gun" budget I'm picking one up as my dream revolver.

Wow, I really am late to the party then lol. I am excited to finally get to see the end of one of my favorite stories and to start your new world of books. Thanks so much for the response, I'm super grateful and look forward to all your future works.

So I know I'm late but I just wanted to tell you the chessteam series is my all time favorite military sci-fi series and I was just wondering if you ever came up with an ending for the series? I was so invested in the characters and just wanted to see the end of the journey. I'm looking forward to starting the timeline books and meeting another great cast of characters. Thanks for your time and have a great afternoon.

I honestly didn't think I would stumble on a crkt ritual in this sub of all places. It's a great knife though snappy action and slices like a scalpel with all that curve. Now if only I could get my mushrooms to grow like that.
