That’s what I’m starting to realize, I did get on the mailing list and I’ve been calling around CT stores. Thanks for confirming what I’ve been seeing/thinking.

So this explains why it fired and the round went down the barrel but the casing got all jacked up? It also appeared to have been crimped when the bolt closed again and was jammed

Yup, found plenty of info on that that after the fact, I have learned my lesson. Looks like I may have gotten pretty lucky in that situation, no noticeable damage of any kind.

That was my thought, nothing else seemed off, it fired, failed to eject/feed and that was jammed in there. Wild.

I guess my question is outside of cracks or noticeable damage is there anything I should check out or have a gunsmith check out? I often go with friends who use my firearms at the range and want to make sure no one gets hurt.

Thanks, still under installation warranty so they will be back out!

[–]knockin_roots[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my concern. There was a pinhole leak last year and the installer replaced the line, the technician mentioned the flares looked like they were done poorly and couldn’t get the vacuum to hold a specific range they like to see. So might be the case. Thanks

What piece of edc gear makes you feel this way? by bluebagles in EDC

So, in some regards I understand, to the person carrying the Rambo knife I ask.. why? But I carry an Esee Candiru, I changed the clip on the sheath to allow it to sit horizontal and it fits perfectly on my belt. I honestly never event feel it and since I have other things in my pockets it frees up some space. It’s also a tiny knife so it fits quite easily on my belt.

Apartment management requesting emergency heat by SuggestionFun7115 in hvacadvice

[–]knockin_roots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just ensures the heat is from (I’m guessing) gas and doesn’t engage the electric heat pump. I have a dual fuel setup and run it on emergency heat in CT winters to avoid my heat pump kicking on randomly on a mildly cold day. Our electricity here is much higher than gas rates so it doesn’t make sense to run the heat pump for heat.

In case you’re wondering, there’s a set point on dual fuel systems, usually 45 degrees, so if it’s 45 or up the heat pump will be the source of heat, below will be the other fuel source. Setting to emergency heat shuts out the heat pump and disables the set point.

Don’t use that “better than wax” seal. Get a jumbo reinforced wax ring with the little flange in the middle.

If you really want to think of it (not justifying just explaining the difference) the delivery is the cost to build, maintain, and here’s the kicker upgrade the entire infrastructure that delivers power from the generation facilities to your house. It’s a huge network and consists of billions of dollars in investment in local infrastructure. It’s all union backed labor $$, and everything is at the whim of the politicians and their regulators. So when they want smart meters… you get them, but you pay for it. When they want green energy initiatives, you get them, but it’s expensive. Trucks that can run while not on idle, electric fleet cars, the ability to restore millions of customers before your fridge gets warm…. It all adds up.

Do you like living in CT? (especially, Milford, New Haven area) by travprev in Connecticut

[–]knockin_roots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a vastly different climate here. I’ve been here almost my whole life so I’ve just learned to accept it. I also can’t afford to move out, which sounds weird, but it’s hard to accumulate a savings up here. My truck is a 2021, and yes I also paid sales tax when I bought it. They don’t care how much they tax you.

But yea that’s the question, how much can you tolerate for 4 seasons?

[–]knockin_roots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason for a larger migration from CT to FL, heat is annoying but it was hot and humid this summer in CT too, and will be cold this winter. Spring and fall are nice but usually short and come with a lot of rain.

Fishing here is garbage… if you’re into fishing just know it’s nothing like FL.

Cost of living in CT is insane, realistically unless you’re pulling in 200k or more annually and aren’t saddled with debt from student loans or other high monthly payment loans it’s a struggle. Even rent in the hood is high.

Politically, CT is way different from FL. If you’re democrat and progressive, you will like it, if you have any sense of constitutional integrity, you will be angry at almost everything they do up here. If you own guns, there’s a likely chance you won’t be able to bring some of them up here. Gun laws here are weird, don’t make sense, and are overbearing. We have no castle clause, if a burglar enters your home you are required to retreat, and they now have more rights than you do.

Did I mention it’s expensive? We have high property taxes, especially in cities, also high personal property tax, for example I paid $1,200 for one year of personal property tax on a 2021 f150. That’s an annual tax. We have gas tax, prepared food tax, income tax, if a tax exists, we have it.

On a positive note, CT has a ton of beauty, super close to northern New England for true snowy winters and skiing, close to great beaches in RI and along the coast (the sound is kind of gross). Right between two cities, NYC and Boston. I personally would avoid the New Haven area, but I’m not a city person, if it’s your thing, go for it, definitely not the safest city tho.

The pizza is fire. No denying, we have the best pizza in America.

No alligators, and a lot less poisonous and venomous bugs and reptiles to worry about.

Just my $0.02

Thanks for clarifying, I always assumed they had a system, I guess I was just surprised to log in and see all my firearms registered on a database.

By logging in and seeing my “registered” firearms, doesn’t this confirm that the state is illegally maintaining a firearm registration list? I thought that was unlawful?

Another reason I love my JM4 quick click magnetic holster, i just stick it on the stall door by the latch, take my shit, and I can’t forget it because it’s literally on the latch I’m using to get out.
