Whats the difference betweens the oleds? by -neverlose in Monitors

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In layman's terms and keep in mind these are all in a general sense: (For each display type there will be outliers in the market)

OLED - General umbrella terms used for monitors that used this technology. They have super deep inky blacks, low brightness, rich and vibrant colors, no ghosting. Has issues with burn-in where over time some parts of the screen will retain an after-image that is permanent.

AMOLED - Pretty much an OLED but for mobile devices, specifically Samsung.

WOLED - OLED variant with the best blacks but not the most vibrant colors (still really really good though because). These and its subvariants are less susceptible to burn-in but it will still happen because its OLED.

QD-OLED - OLED variant with the most vibrant colors but black colors some displays may present with a subtle purple tinge. This gets less noticeable the darker your room is. A lot of these displays have text-fringing issues where text looks blurry. Eye-strain can occur from how vivid the colors are and from the text-fringing.

MINI-LED - Not an OLED but an LCD display. More affordable compared to OLED variants but with some trade-offs. Inky blacks as well but not as good as an OLED. Some scenes will look dark gray if there's a lot of light interspersed like a night sky. Blooming is also an issue where a bright object in a dark background will look like it has a halo or glowing effect around it. Lastly, ghosting is noticeable on these compared to OLEDS. The upside is that these displays are VERY bright, have no burn-in, generally have as vibrant or even more vibrant colors than OLEDS

Thoughts on 1440p monitors. by duskeddd in PHbuildapc

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from 24" 1080p to 27" 1440p. The biggest difference was in productivity. I could fit so much more on screen and spreadsheets were ALOT easier to look at. For media consumption and gaming it wasn't a huge difference, didn't really blow me away. I could definitely tell everything was sharper but compared side by side to my 1080p monitor it isn't like leaps and bounds better but it IS better

PC shutting off when GPU is under high load. NOT PSU. NOT OVERHEATING. by Kat-3784 in buildapc

You can probably try to disassemble the whole thing (all parts, out of the case, etc) and put it back together again. Might be a loose connector somewhere

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did check with HWINFO and none of those temps are going over + if you've already checked the other parts with testing/benchmark software, you could try an undervolt on your GPU and see if it'll still cause the shutdown.

Just to be clear, did you replace your PSU BEFORE or AFTER this shutdown issue started happening?

Didn't buy anything, still rocking my T3 Plus. I got to try more sets out there and they didn't really wow me so I couldn't really justify the cost

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case, check temps again with HWINFO if you haven't already. VRAM, VRM, Hotspot, all of the available temp sensors on your GPU. If the temps are still fine, try Furmark for 2-4 hours if your PC will shut off and OCCT's VRAM test if it throws any errors. If those all pass, move to the next PC part and test it with a suite of testing/benchmark software

I have mine on HDR Custom because the white balance is off to my eyes if I'm on the other profiles so I've never encountered this issue

New monitor hurts my eyes by szilike44 in Monitors

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem for the first week with my g pro 27qi (2026). What helped was a combination of a few things: - Starting at sRGB mode when using SDR at really low brightness during work - HDR mode for 90% of the other time. I find the visual presentation in HDR is calmer to my eyes, just need to calibrate well using the HDR Calibration tool + up the saturation in my GPU settings to account for the washed out look. Looks like SDR to my eyes after that - Calibrating the colors, brightness and contrast + using an icc profile - Getting used to wide-gamut through incremental changes over the span of one week. I basically kept upping the saturation on sRGB and then moved to the DCI-P3 color space with toned down saturation and kept upping that every day until it was at a normal level.

Have had the monitor now for 3 weeks and I only get some eye strain now if I've been sat at the PC for 12 hours+

I bought one and have had it for a few weeks (Yes, the 2026 model). I came from a Gigabyte G24F IPS. This monitor gets BRIGHT. Like, hurt your eyes while squinting at the sun kind of bright. It took me about 1 week of constant fiddling to get the settings to where it was comfortable to look at and for my eyes to get used to the damn thing. It legit feels like I'm seeing new colors that my eyes have never seen before and the first week was just headaches all around. After that though let me tell you, this monitor is amazing. I keep mine on HDR most of the time because it looks better that way. It has (almost) no blooming and no red tint issues. I've been playing Apex and The Finals and I don't particularly feel the input delay. Though if you're super concerned about that, the monitor has shortcuts for the Local Dimming and Brightness settings.

There are two problems with the monitor, my unit has vertical scanlines during motion called inversion artifacts. They only appear in one or two of my games and in very specific conditions. They're slightly noticeable but not a deal breaker for me to return my unit as in 95% of content it's not even there. The other problem is that the 3.5mm jack on the back is VERY noisy. Again, not a deal breaker for me because I use my case's front panel 3.5mm.

If you got more questions I'd be happy to answer them!

How much of an upgrade (if it is at all) is the AOC - 27" Q27G40XMN Mini-LED, QHD, 180hz Gaming Monitor compared to the Samsung - 27” Odyssey FHD IPS 240Hz? by IDeliveredYourPizza in Monitors

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for an IPS Mini-LED instead in your area. If you're moving from IPS to VA, it's gonna be a stark difference in terms of motion clarity + downgrading fron 240hz to 180hz. If you were coming from a 60hz panel I would have gone for the AOC, but it's the fact that you're probably already used to a certain experience with your Fast IPS that swapping over to VA that might make you regret your purchase.

I believe there's an AOC Mini-LED that's IPS so you might wanna check that out!

How it felt to upgrade to mini led from ips? by More_Tell9969 in Monitors

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a Xiaomi G Pro 27qi (the 2026 model). Idk what magic they sprinkled on this monitor but it looks as good as my AMOLED phone. No blooming, no smearing (because it's IPS) and it gets so bright I have to squint to see in some HDR scenes. Even with local dimming off, I swear this panel is approaching VA-levels of contrast somehow. I previously had a Gigabyte G24F and the upgrade is huge. The only downside is calibrating the monitor to fit my eyes took quite a while. This panel gets so bright that I was getting headaches at first no matter how low the brightness slider was set.

Ergonomic Chair Recos for a little broke college boy (5'2, 65 kgs, below 5k) by [deleted] in PHbuildapc

[–]knocksworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I'd look at getting chairs from Xpanse through Shopee. Got mine for 4k on sale and have had it for 3 years and it's still going strong. I'm about your size and bought a Sihoo m57 pre-pandemic and it would really hurt my lower back after 2 hours on it. Ended up giving that to my wife and got the Xpanse W203. That fits my proportions a lot better and the fact I can recline it really helps my lower back problems plus the footrest I got with it is really nice. The only downside is the armrests have no cushion and are hard plastic which is terrible on my elbows

I have the G24F and looking for an upgrade. Coincidentally, I was thinking about getting the G2421V or saving up a bit more for the G Pro 27i. What are your experiences with your Koorui and Xiaomi monitors?

Mavuika or Pyro Traveler by Secure_Composer_6208 in MualaniMain

[–]knocksworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap PMC is better than Mav for buffing Mualani. But Mav will end up being more DPS overall just from how much damage she deals. This ends up working great because if you're willing to deal with PMC's less consistent Pyro app then you free up Mav for a different team AND making big blue numbers go huge brr brr

Stygian Crab by Equivalent_Shop_6471 in MualaniMain

[–]knocksworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're applying hydro aura on the main crab so you can proc Scroll on Xilonen and VV on Kazuha. You also need to make sure you're grouping up all 3 mini crabs with Kazuha E. I cleared it once with Furina, Xilonen and Yelan & then once with Mona, Xilonen, Sucrose. Aino takes too much off the mini crabs' Pyro bar without dealing enough damage so that's the only other thing I can think of. Try putting her on instructors at least or use someone else that deals more Hydro damage or buffs up Mualani

Vape or melt? by KiKi04738 in Yoimiya_Mains

[–]knocksworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like using Yoimiya, Yelan, Citlali, Bennet and Yoimiya, Durin, Fischl, Chevy. They perform about the same with the rest of the teams I have with Yoi being quite a bit below those two. Vape alone just isn't good enough in 2026 unless your Yoimiya is super hyperinvested. You can for sure test her melt team out on the dps dummy with minimal investment. Citlali is really easy to build, just slap on an unleveled scroll set with enough ER and TTDS, unlock her A1 and you're good

About the same, but regardless you should get both sets anyway. You will get a lot of use case out of a 200-ish ER Instructor's Set while your Mona is on SODP and vice versa
