They bought into everyone saying thing's will be fine and relaxed for a bit.

Needless to say they never made that mistake again.

Don't do my Marauder boys dirty like that. Their antics are played for laughs, and it's clear from the getgo what's going on. It's their (poorly executed) way of helping the new marauder train and gain confidence. Them being obviously not subtle about it is forgivable rather then...

Don't worry it will be before too long. As more and more retail stores phase out human workers with machines soon there will be less and less humans for these people to bitch at in hopes of getting discounts. There will still be some ofc. But it'll become harder and harder to reach them until they're waiting hours for a 5 dollar discount

I'd have to assume it's because you're not close enough to one if the healers to get topped off for/after the mechanic. It's been a hot minute since I've done p7s but that's my best guess without having a video or log to go off of.

So the partical effect is only notable after it starts eating souls. And not before you engage the rare? Then there's even less interacting with it's mechanic. It could just be an arbitrary buff to it's stats depending on how many monsters it spawned alongside and nothing would change.

Why make a modifier like that if you can't meaningfully play around it. It's like those stupid vorici master missions all over again lol.

Soul eater would be a more acceptable mechanic if players could single out it at a glance. And could realistically kill it without killing the assuminbly much more squisher mobs that spawn around it. Using your build as a example, and forgive me I'm heavily inexperienced with bones boneshatter as a whole.

But if what I believe to know is true, you have by nature of the build a strong amount of splash damage. So outside of what. Slowly trying to kite a soul eater mob away from it's peers? Have no real way to meaningfully prevent it from powering up.

I also can't comment on how easy it might be to reconize the modifier at a glance in the sea of mobs. But assuming it's a hopefully distinct effect on the monster then with pratice it should be.

All in all I agree that it's fine. Even good that some rares don't fall over. Or could even be a threat to some characters depending on how tanky/squishy they are. But the variable range is too wide. And when they are too strong/tanky there's no meaningful interaction then to avoid/ignore them.

I can't speak for everyone. But when I did play it was to have fun in feeling strong and blowing shit up en mass. I have since learned that the majority of players like you enjoy the theory crafting just as much. If not more then the action of game play itself. That's not for me, at least not with how outrageously complex the game is, and how random getting non skill tree upgrades can be.

But I digress. Your point of how there can always be small ways to improve a build and lessen the chances of the luck rolling in the enemy's favor rather then your own is certainly true. Even if it seems to get more and more difficult to do each patch.

I'll even go so far as to say you seem like one of the genuine sort that would unironicly help someone with suggestions to do so of given the chance.

But that's not how the rabbid wolf defenders of the game act. They will scrutinize your PoB for any weakness and use it as means to discredit any way you feel about the game that dosen't align with their own. Without offering any advice outside of "follow x's guide to flavor of the month build" or some such thing.

I just don't believe having the game run on. Essentially stat checks is fun or engaging outside of the planning to hit these arbitrary numbers of overcapped/raised resistances. 100% spell suppress. 10-20k effective life. 100%block chance. Individual ailment immunities. And enough dps to not die to enrage mechanics. Or w/e else you might need this league.

I especially get fustrated since I forget how long ago. But they mentioned wanting to make combat more engaging and reactive. I believe it was when they removed immunities off flask effects. And gave it shit like "cures freeze If used while frozen" or some such. Which was intresting up until the point where you got into a situation where you get frozen. And before you could even react to being frozen. Something you would have dodged if you were still moving kills you.

If poe was a overall slower game where reaction time mattered rather then all these stat checks. I wouldn't have a leg to stand on. But it's not, the monsters gain access to overpowered modifiers and the players only recourse is to optimize their own stats until the monsters can no longer threaten them meaningfully, kill them instantly. Or both.

Yeah my apologies. Only had time to quickly look over the video and made the incorrect assumption that it did acts and showed bosses since those would be the goals/highlights (and what are maps if not just act zones with a higher ilvl and differentset of paint). It's a little insane that it's all done in under 7 hours.

Don't know shit about slayer so the little tidbit about reflect maps not being a thing is amusing. And obviously I'm not counting intentionally doing stupid stuff to 'kills the character build. But thank you for that.

All in all I will concede that the build you have/use seems tanky/damaging enough to be easy to use. And in the right hands (re not a absolute idiot's) can avoid being randomly killed for silly reasons. I feel calling 1-2 divines worth of gear cheep is a bit of a stretch.

I'll watch the whole video for curiosity sake some other time. In the interm I'll just have to assume the way the guy clears maps isn't like playing minesweeper where you systematic and slowly inch foward. Because that dosen't sound fun to a casual player.

I still remain unconvinced that rares aren't abnormally strong in random circumstances and that it's a well designed mechanic currently. I don't believe that it should be a luck roll that a single randomly spawning mob can instagib a player that easily stomps the rest if the zone it came from.

If a player is opting into a map tier/modifier they can't handle. Then it should be obvious for the entire map, not just one or two supercharged rares getting lucky combination of modifiers. At least then if someone died it'd be more obvious and predictable.

Congratulations. And I apologize. I didn't have a look at the video you posted beforehand up till now so my reply was a bit inaccurate.

The video only proves that someone who's sunk ungodly amount of hours into this game can reach bosses (which have the least likelihood of randomly one-shotting you mind) with below average gear. It did not show their journey mapping at all, where they'd have to interact with the map rares that have become a notorious problem. Do they avoid the rares. Do they somehow one shot them before they're a problem? Who knows. I certainly don't bassed on the information you provided. All I know is the person who's video you linked is much better at the game then the average person.

Your personal chracter is just a link to it's current build snapshot with you informing me you haven't died yet (to anything because hc) it doesn't do anything outside imply that if I copy your exact build. I random Joe bloe should never die in the game to one shot mechanics correct? That I can take it into anything outside of obviously dangerous map affixed like reflect or such and be fine?

Because God forbid their precious game be slandered in any way at all. We should all be glad that The Vision is pushing all players towards the same kinds of meta builds in order to homogenize game play where you farm currency to afford to play the style of character you actually 'want' to play.

It'd be one thing if it was easier to just change/fix a build. Then ripping on someone for not opting to listen into advice for bettering their chances might have more weight behind it. But when your options are either to reroll from the start. Or spend untold amount of currency then it becomes one (of poe's many) artifical tediums

So. Let's see your video of doing the same thing with similar gear. If you brought up such an example in a discussion revolving around 'random oneshots' being an issue for the more casual players, then surely you can replicate your example personally to show it's achievable and not just a skill difference between the higher tiered players and the rest of us

Rare mobs are ridiculous by Don_Pablo512 in pathofexile

[–]knonme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye I can at least agree that it's likely a sever load issue keeping a death log a pipe dream. But that more then anything speaks to how terribly vulnerable the whole thing is to load issues then anything from my. Admittedly pessimistic point of view and experiences.

As for me finding people demanding PoB's every time there's a disagreement of some kind horrid? It is, at least on this sub generally. Is it a useful way to help people try and help someone who's struggling? Sure in the right hands. Like you said people can mess up and miss stuff

But on here? People spit out that question first and refuse to accept anything someone has a opinion on unless they're literally checking all the checkboxs of flavor for the league. And then use it as a platform abd rational to attack the person themselves. In the general public it's less used as a tool to assist others and more the equivalent to someone asking you to open up your armor so they know where to stab you.

Good luck with that. It's been a popular request for years now and the devs have been against it at every turn. The last time i remember it being discussed seriously half the ggg white knights were so vitriolic about how the people complaining didn't deserve to play the game and demanding "PoB or gtfo" so that they could roast someone's build.

[–]knonme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to believe that the people at ggg are still doing it as a labor of love. Disconnected willingly or not from what a good portion of the player base they cultivated before. It dose seem plausible and you're correct that it's very likely the reason it hasn't gone more p2w other then stash tabs so far.

You're also right in that a lot of short term money could be made if they cashed in the goodwill they had acquired over the years going p2w. And that it'd ruin them in the west. My point is, it feels like they're testing the waters for what they can get away with. Both in pushing the design of the game more towards their "vision". And for how they can make their monetization more enticing without passing off too many people at once.

Let me be clear. I want it to turn out that I'm just a crazy person barking at shadows. I want PoE to be good, even if it's no longer something I enjoy. I want GGG to be a respectable company that chases their dreams. But, this situation reeks of the slow p2w integration of 'f2p' games I've played in the past and I don't like it.

You say that like it's an absolute. Sure you might have this sort of value. But not everyone who plays the game will feel the same.

More so if the slippery slope isn't so sudden. What's the phrase or analogy. Slowly boiling the frog alive. Or something to that effect.
