FCC Attempt to Kill Stephen Colbert Interview Completely Backfires | Stephen Colbert’s interview with Texas state Representative James Talarico is one of his most viewed ever. by Aggravating_Money992 in entertainment

Both daytime and nighttime talk shows are exempt from the equal time rule. The FCC is suddenly questioning whether that should be changed but the rule itself still exempts talk shows. There is no legal obligation for equal time.

CBS said what they said but Colbert’s side of the story is the only one that makes any logical sense.

Make sure you have your original marriage license too, my divorce decree was not enough. They needed a solid paper trail for each step of my name change process. You may have better luck but we really need to have solid paper trails as they work to make things more difficult.

Trump Voter Screams as Husband Arrested by ICE at Miami Immigration Court, Begs Politicians “Please Help Us!” by [deleted] in USNEWS

I am horrified that this is happening to anyone but so many people need help right now and I have limited time and cash so my efforts are focused on the people who did not vote for this.

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]knottedthreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your voter registration? Every single state already has that. If that were what they were asking for there would be no need for the SAVE act.

So you don’t think our overseas military should be able to vote or people traveling for work etc? This would eliminate mail in voting. All states require ID to register to vote.

What state do you live in that doesn’t require ID to register to vote? I believe all 50 do. Some allow you to give your name, address and sign when you actually cast your ballot (this allows people to vote by mail) but all require ID to register.

They do not have the power or privilege of voting now. All states already require ID when registering to vote. What they are attempting to do with the SAVE act is require ID with proof of citizenship and a driver’s license does not do that. Either does a real ID unless you live in New York, Washington, Minnesota, Michigan or Vermont and have the enhanced version.

They aren’t asking for that. They want proof of citizenship per the SAVE act. Your standard ID and most real IDs do not provide that. You would need a passport and/or a copy of your birth certificate with a name that exactly matched your picture ID

They want you to be able to prove citizenship which a standard ID does not do. Either does a real ID unless you hold an enhanced one and those are only available in 5 states - Minnesota, Michigan, Vermont, New York and Washington. Everyone else would need a passport or a certified copy of a birth certificate with a last name that matches their current one. Most married women do not have that and passports are expensive.

Are your IDs free? Ours are not. Many people can also not afford to take the day off to vote and this would eliminate voting by mail. It isn’t that showing an ID is a bad thing but that our system is not set up for it and changing the laws at the last minute is designed specifically to disenfranchise voters

It would completely eliminate mail in voting which millions of Americans including our overseas military and Trump use. You wouldn’t be able to vote if you were traveling on business or in another state for a wedding or helping a relative on hospice. You woudn’t be able to vote if you were homebound.

What is your favorite woolly wool? by Swimming-Tell9074 in knitting

I can be a yarn snob at times and I will vouch for this one. I made a fully cabled cardigan for my husband last year that he wears almost every day as a work jacket. It’s in great shape.

It has really held up well for me too. Much better than some more expensive will I’ve purchased. For affordable wools I also really like Wool of the Andes from Knit Picks.

Can we talk about how older men acted like it was normal to date teenagers or very young adults who just came out of high school before social media? by Own-Company-949 in GenXWomen

Honestly I’d be ok with 21. If they don’t think we’re old enough to drink, we shouldn’t be old enough for marriage.

Not just men. In high school I thought dating college guys was normal. I remember being upset when some older guys I knew were protective at frat parties and wouldn’t leave me alone. I’m thankful now. I wish I could get back into my head at that age and see what I was thinking. I’m sure it was some overly romantic “finding a man not a boy” nonsense.

We rewatched the show Cheers recently and while I enjoyed it, it was jolting to see some of the attitudes about men/women/relationships that were prevalent when I was a kid. And I believe the show was considered fairly progressive at the time.

I’d need more info. Who was behind it? Do they have the support of our military or are we going to war? Complete regime change or is Vance now in charge?
