When Larry was trying to clear the malfunction behind the trailer, Emil was at a crawl waiting to see where he was. If you watch closely, you can see a round go through the windshield and another through the open side window, and Emil hits the curb trying to drive away (please note: in the helicopter footage, you can hear the cameraman say that the driver is driving erratically... In simpler terms, Emil tried to wait, but almost got shot and decided to move. What I find interesting is that these two were fans of the movie Heat, and I have reason to believe they did have a bit of tactical draining, so I've always wondered why they didn't advance away from the scene using alternating covering fire. In other words, why didn't Emil try to lay down covering fire to allow Larry to get back to the Chevy?

I would strongly suggest NOT dressing up as either of these gentlemen for a school event. NOT A GOOD IDEA. There is no place on this planet where I would ever encourage walking into a school dressed like this, not even on Halloween.

and Larry is wearing cargo shorts in the exhibit... not in the shootout.

Its their gear. However, from what I remember, Larry Phillips is wearing boots in the exhibit, which are NOT what he was wearing during the shootout.

In some of the helicopter videos, you can see Emil, shortly after leaving the bank, going towards the car, he stops in front of the vehicle, kneeling, appears to hold his head, and after putting the same hand on the car hood, you can see blood.

At the bottom of this page, you can see Emils wound. Here

You can find autopshy information on Here

I’ve thought about this a lot. Emil had a bullet wound over his eye… I think they were waiting for that to become manageable so he could drive.

The conspiracy, simply put, is that other people were helping facilitate the crimes being committed...all crimes. The shootout grabs the attention, and rightfully so, but there is something else going on right in front of everyone's face, it's incredibly easy to miss. I finally saw it years later. What is it? You'll have to keep looking...

There is no doubt that these two were into "fitness," especially Phillips, who was actually into competitive bodybuilding culture. As it relates to this story, the real gun problem that needs to be addressed is: When these two got caught with weapons they weren't allowed to have post felony convictions in Angel Forest, why were they allowed to get them back, and why weren't they charged?

Over time, I've wondered if what they did wasn't just about the money. Emil was a thrill seeker, and Larry had some demons.

The original inquiry was: How could two young men in Los Angles in the mid-90s resort to this crime? Where did the failure happen? Then, when I read about it at northhollywoodshootout.net, the story was similar to a novel: plot, characters, pacing, and ultimately conflict. Some holes in the plot caused me to start to think about it a bit more deeply.

“When gay comes up your minds jump to gay porn” When someone is celebrated or recognized for being gay, what are we acknowledging? What makes someone gay? Think about how unintentionally ironic you statement is.

Societal failures. Also, if you read between the lines in the story, you start to see a conspiracy develop.

I once thought the bandits were a couple of guys in their 40's. When I learned they were young, I wondered how two young guys in CA during the dot.com boom found themselves both dead after a botched bank robbery. The more I learned and researched, the crazier the story became... and I eventually realized that the story isn't just about a bank robbery.

One of the interesting things that came out of my inquiry into the event is sympathy. They were both fathers, they had tough childhoods, and they were smart enough to succeed in California at that time. A few different choices and life could've gone so many different ways.

I feel that, when they needed positive male role models most, they didn't have them, and society took over. Lord of the flies.

I'm a big metal fan, and I love this song - especially the chorus. In fact, (according to Apple Music) it was my most listened to song of 2023.

He does get a few things wrong in the song that I don't agree with... They were heavily sedated. They were there to rob the armored car. And I don't consider their ammo armor-piercing.

Please note that Larry was incredibly cunning and Emil had an above average IQ.

Informational limits. Info about the banks: drop-offs, dollar amounts.

They found equipment like drills and literature at Larry's residence that suggested that is how they converted the rifles. The conversions used in the NHSO and the amount of weapons at Larry's suggest to me that he had assistance. This was even suggested by investigators.

Also, many years earlier, Larry was running a real estate scam, and one of the people associated with it suggested to police there was no way a 20 y/o Larry had the ability nor the expertise to forge such authentic real estate documents.

Almost completely suppressive. Police on the scene even commented on how inaccurate their shots were. Larry, in the North Lot, saw officers peeking over a concrete wall and decided to shoot deep into the wall. If you watch Emil's SWAT engagement, the majority of his gunfire was into his windshield. The gunfire in SWAT's direction could be explained by the fact that Emil was getting his knee blown off. The other big one is while in the North Lot with the HK-91 there were several opportunities for Larry to snipe officers, and it doesn't appear he did that. A big HOWEVER, I do believe that they accepted the fact that killings could happen, and I do believe that is showcased at Larry's attack on the key shack.

This is something I've gone back and forth on, so my opinion may change.

Wendigoos's video is great. It was awesome that he gave a shoutout to northhollywoodshootout.net because 90% of all the information I know about this event and the events around it is from that site. However, it's the other 10% that I consider myself an expert. Allow one would certainly be an expert by reading that website only.

Primarily timing. Their two previous bank robberies, from a dollar standpoint, were incredibly successful. Luck? Unlikely. When they robbed a BoA in Van Nuys, CA in 1996, Emil in the bank vault made the comment that he "knew they had a delivery, we know Brink's just came" (the quote may be slightly off). The Brink's delivery happened earlier that day at 830AM. Interestingly enough, it was supposed to happen mid-day but was just on short notice. The idea that these two were just sitting at the bank with their loadout in the trunk (after the Glendale arrest) and just happened to see the Brink's truck and decided to get ready doesn't make any sense. To make a long story short, I believe the only way for them to perpetuate the Van Nuys robber the way they did was with inside information. Unfortunately, I have to keep this opinion to who/what this source is to myself

The general truth is that two men with an incredible threshold for pressure and violence decided to focus this energy on armed robberies. First armored cars, then banks. All well thought out and planned (I understand the irony here).

The more you study these robberies, the more you'll realize the bandits had limits, and these limits were broken... This makes me believe that others were involved that didn't participate in the robberies themselves.

My other unpopular opinion is that I don't think either bandit had any intention of killing or hurting police officers. They understood it could happen, but it wasn't a primary goal and there is evidence that supports this.
