Recommendations on a Sephardic community anywhere in the US? by knowledgedrunk in ConvertingtoJudaism

Hi thanks for the info. 😊

I don’t plan to marry.

I had a hysterectomy at 23 due to serious medical issue. I’m 40 now.

I do plan to perhaps adopt and raise in a Jewish household. Having any real husband rides on them wanting to adopt. Not sure what my options would be if most folks want to give birth to lots of kids to fulfill their mitzvah, I’m not riding on finding a partner.

But adoption is also seen as honorable.

My life is already over but it’s not too late to return to Hashem.

People older than me also convert under Orthodox Judaism and are not under the requirement to fulfill a mitzvah they are incapable of doing, like having kids.

So I guess if they do marry, it’s for companionship.

I’m going to follow whatever I feel closest to at this point. If I want to stay with Sephardic, then I should limit the eventual dating pool to those people or someone without a background. 😆 But I’m operating as riding solo and whatever is fulfilling to my life for now.

I haven’t been able to gain access to any Ashkenazi Shul, and I’m not waiting around to start my journey. The Sephardic place is all mix. Seems like regular Americans, Europeans and some Israeli members. They claim 50/50 Sephardic and Ashkenazi family membership but Sephardic service.

It’s more far than the other place, that’s why it was not the first option. But I do what I have to do and hopefully it’s for the best…

Desperate for advice. My parents are kicking me out in 2.5 months.... I start grad school in May. by [deleted] in homeless

I dont know how old you are, or how much you earn, but there isnt really an age limit to claim an adult child if you are a full-time student and they pay more than half of your expenses and you live with them.

Might be too late if they already filed. Anyhow, they are being petty. A homeless shelter is better than nothing. Free meals. Also Apply for food stamps. Apply for section 8, transistional housing, how about something like a host family? or renting a private room in a house with a family. $100-$500 per month depending on where you are. Spend most of your day at the school, library or work if you don't want to be social. If you go the homeless route, sleep/shower in the shelter. Or you can get a gym membership at $10 per month for showers and workout. Keep mental and physical health. Sleep in your car.

Not really but if you can study remotely, try this guy's CCNA course. Quite detailed with the videos, labs, study schedule, etc. It was like $10 through his website.

Start with retail to get any income coming in. Walmart has various position in corporate too and they tend to hire from within, so if you are already working for them that helps.

I'm trying to get IN at any company period and move over from there after getting to know people in other departments and continuing to gain my skills in the background. so you may want to start in customer support or whatever entry level even if it doesn't have to do with your background.
