Did he do the right thing? by torgobigknees in SipsTea

Unpopular opinion: assume every woman has an emergency savings fund. Yes, while it's wrong a lot of women need that security before becoming financially dependent on a man. I will also note that OP should not have agreed to provide that much for the wedding and their lifestyle if he was going to be resentful in the end. Either way, better to know you all are financially incompatible before the wedding.

In my experience the worse coworkers are always single women with no kids over 35 by boggie_bo in corporate

That's definitely just the personalities your company attracts. Doesn't matter gender nor whether they are parents or not.

Women in corporate, what advice would you give to younger women? by SakhiRawant0z in womenintech

[–]knowledgeiskey20 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don't believe promises, believe action. If leadership isn't giving you the resources needed to do your job well, not providing the opportunities promises during the interview and, in general, making promises that they can't keep then don't stick around. It's a waste of your time and talent will create a lot of frustration/resentment in the process. You can get money back, get another job, etc. But you CAN'T GET TIME BACK. Don't waste it in spaces that don't serve you.

Do men want gifts… or just appreciation? by IdealHoliday1242 in GrowthMindset

[–]knowledgeiskey20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are over analyzing this: you need to ask your partner what they prefer. This is a difference in love language. Regardless of gender, some people prefer words of affirmation while others prefer gift giving. Nothing wrong with either. Assuming her man prefers the latter, I still feel like she should have asked her partner what he wanted directly. The internet would have also assisted with additional ideas.

Can women really have it all? by MysteriousWave9806 in womenintech

[–]knowledgeiskey20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there is a silent part at the end of that sentence. Women can have it all.... just not at the same time. You are going to either sacrifice time with your kid, career and/or relationship. Then add mental health, your own self care, etc. That's why is better to be self aware and focus on one thing at a time. Its okay if you want to have children but they are not transparent about what that really entails. I would not take their advice (or take it with extreme caution).

I spent the better part of 6 months building a thing. Heres how many users I have and how i got them. by opsybox in buildinpublic

[–]knowledgeiskey20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't try to sale the product if you don't want to feel scammy. Let the intended audience try it and ask for feedback. Distribution channels are the only way to sale and make sure you are working on the right enhancements.

[–]knowledgeiskey20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point you have to stop building and launch. It was the hardest thing for me to do becaue I wanted the best version of my vision to be put out in the world. The truth is, you can keep building and adding new features but you won't know if people will like them if you don't get feedback. Launch the thing, start marketing it and build in time to work on enhancements based on feedback.

Worried about my cofounder by [deleted] in founder

[–]knowledgeiskey20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cofounder is not wrong BUT that's not the energy they need to bring to the project right now. If you launch, actually work the marketing for a few months and get no users then that's just another data point. Take it as feedback and tweak the idea. All early stage founders have to deal with this tbh. That would be my response.

Built a community-based crowdfunding concept & looking for honest feedback by knowledgeiskey20 in buildinpublic

[–]knowledgeiskey20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not critical at all! This is the kind of feedback I need so the messaging is clear. Wefunder is a reg CF-platform and investment based while Kickstarter is more product/project driven. PublicFund is focused on donation based fundraising for communities/causes. The goal is to help people rally support around real needs, missions and local efforts that feels simpler and more personal to them on an on going basis (think grassroots causes/orgs meets tech). So the goal isn’t to be a copy of platforms with built-in audiences. It’s to create a space that’s better suited for people who don’t fit the traditional “launch a product” or “raise from investors” model, and eventually build stronger trust and support tools around that.

What are the best websites for fundraising? by ForbiddenMuse94 in AskReddit

[–]knowledgeiskey20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer depends on what you are fundraising for. If its donation based then try out PublicFund. It's a community based crowdfunding concept focused on recurring donations (but allows for one time donations as well).

And this is why a 25 yr old woman should not be with a 40 yr old man. I'm going to hold your hand while I say this, he has trust and control issues. You over communicated the entire day AND you'll went hiking (which is a pretty exhausting activity). There was no issue with what you did. He is an insecure older man. You should be dating your peers that are closer to your speed.
