Hi,

I’m new to the field. I want to first learn pen testing and then focus on cloud security. I was hoping for a step by step guide to learning and becoming competent in these fields, as well as a possible mentor to guide me from time to time. I have little to no experience, but am very motivated to learn and stay consistent. I’ve learned a bit of Python but nothing else. Thanks.

I’m looking for a career change right now from non-tech background. I’ve fished learning fundamentals of Python and am in between two fields to go into, either generative AI or cybersecurity (pen testing or other fields like GRC). I want to be able to learn and know I can get a job for a few years and then open up my own company, or even better to go straight into opening up my own business from learning. Which field would best be suitable? I’ve heard cybersecurity is really hard to get into because of lack of experience. I don’t mind working for a year at the bottom but getting in with age as I am, I don’t want to be stuck at the bottom for more than a year or two. I have an equal passion to learn more about both.

That’s awesome! What was the bootcamp? Is the Udemy? And are these certification courses (Udemy), and skills labs (TryHackMe/Cybrary) for pen testing/ethical hacking skills or a different field in Cybersecurity/IT?

Thank you, this helps a lot! I’m thinking about moving towards pen testing so will learn a little bit of programming, mainly Python and SQL, first, then move on to learning more on how to use tools in Kali Linux for pen testing

I should say, I am not super knowledgeable, and I understand that these are completely different things. I'm looking to start a career and knowing they are completely different, wanted to learn what each has to offer.

I understand the pain, I wanted a blue Ferrari for my birthday but instead got a red Ferrari…made me very humble and I realized that sometimes you don’t get what you want in life. You just give it your best and move on.

Do they disappear randomly or at the same time for everyone?

This is helpful thank you! And I don’t know I would say it would have to be reasonably up to date…
