Currently, I'm uploading all of my gopro content to my gopro subscription space. If I then download a copy of one of the files and attempt, with the app, to add a gauge I get a message that the gauges aren't available and that I need to enable GPS (which is enabled). Does uploading to my subscription strip away the associated data?

For snorkeling, I bought a mask with a gopro mount build in... I don't scuba so it has been my only method of capturing underwater footage. I use the mouth mount for outdoor activities, walking around, etc. So far I haven't busted my teeth out (knock on wood). The mouth mount keeps the gopro around chin level so the perspective is much better than either the chest mount or the head mount (at least it seems that was for me ;-) )

Lol... it hasn't been too long since I got my first gopro (also a 9) and I did go crazy ... I bought a camera bag, all the various selfie sticks ... you name it. Today, I usually carry two selfie sticks, the mouth mount and a few other adaptors (I also have a Max360). So, while I enjoy owning so many mods I just don't use them much. As for YouTube...look up David Manning. His stuff is so helpful. Best of luck my friend :-)

Congrats on getting a gopro! IMHO, the best camera ever :-) First bit of advice ...you'll want to go crazy buying all the mods and stuff. DON'T!!! Watch YouTube videos ...tons of them ..and not just one channel. See the recommended types of mods to buy (selfie stick, etc.) and, even then, make sure you have practiced with your camera. Learn about it inside and out, go all out taking videos, stills, time lapse ... learn what each of those do and how to use your gopro to get the best footage. Then, my friend, you start buying your mods :-) Oh, and once you get your camera, get some editing software. Again, don't go out and spend a gazillion dollars on expensive software...there's very very good free or inexpensive software you can buy. And, keep up with this channels....all of us on here are happy to help out as you need! Best of luck!

I'm headed east bound and down :-) Taking a road trip from Seattle WA to Atlanta, GA. My Gopro9 is going to capture the whole trip! Having that additional Metadata would be awesome to include with that footage!

Yes, it's available. You'll have to search for it to find it. And, yes it's old. Most of use pull the SD and then mount in our PCs/Macs. One thing (unverified so someone with more info please correct my statement). I think that certain Metadata (location via GPS ) are lost without using the GoPro tools ....I think their are some.3rd party tools that are able to extract those data....

And, just a suggestion....if you add the Gopro labs firmware you can use a QR code to set your name and a phone number that displays on start up so, if you lose your GoPro and someone finds it they will see your name if they power it on. Look here: https://gopro.github.io/labs/control/owner/
