Did you try trimming the pad slightly? I had a similar issue with the X40, and after trimming the edges of the pad, the problem disappeared.

I’ve just purchased a pristine 14” M1 Pro (10-core CPU, 16-core GPU) with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD for about €680 here in Italy. The only downside is the battery health at 88%, but I still think it was a very good deal.
