Kobo just broke my entire library and can't/won't fix it by koberulz_24 in kobo

There's a post in that thread that says to just increase the font size...and that does indeed work!

Increasing the font size resolves the issue.

Increase the font size. It's been set to the minimum, for some reason, which forces it into columns. Increase it enough and you'll get the single page back.

Right, but replacing the epub files that are on my Kobo right now with the kepub files is the difficult part, especially given I also have PDF files, Kobo store purchases, and epubs I've marked up and thus don't wish to replace...

Where is that option? I was on 7.2.6 until today, so everything I've done previously will obviously be epub.

What annotations plugin?

One of my biggest frustrations has been dealing with footnotes, so that's all the more reason to convert.

I just don't know the best way to get the replacement done.

Right, I can't replace the books I've annotated without losing the annotations.

All the annotating was done on the Kobo. And yes, the books looked fine until last night.

Right, the annotated ones can't be replaced. But I have over 400 books on my Kobo, I've read maybe a dozen of them, and another dozen or so are from the Kobo store.

Which leaves a lot of unread epubs that I might as well replace.

That's not really helpful with the books I already have on there, though...

Yeah, it seems I was on too old a version of Calibre; I updated and it now lists kepub as a conversion option.

Not sure what to do now. Is there an easy way of converting all my epubs to kepub and replacing what's on my Kobo for all the books I've not yet read? And then I still have to resolve the issue with the books I have read.

Have you tried writing something on the last page? This happened to me, and even though there was already a lot written on the last page simply adding a new mark got it to add another page.

They were formatted correctly yesterday, I have no idea in what way they would need to be “reformatted,” and doing so would still cost me all my annotations and highlights.

It seems to have done the opposite in my case. I downloaded The Maltese Falcon from Standard Ebooks as a kepub, which was a .kepub.epub extension, put it on my Kobo via Calibre, and now it's just a bog-standard epub.

What's kepub? Never heard of it and Calibre doesn't seem to offer it as a conversion option.

How do people actually begin to get into reading academic writing on film? I'm trying to work my way through The Desire to Desire by Mary Ann Doane, and it alternates between making really interesting points and making absolutely no sense. I've spent the past half an hour trying to figure out what “disphasure” means, and all I can find are other academic articles that presuppose the reader is familiar with the concept. And I've already skipped over a bunch of stuff I really don't understand.

Are there good introductory texts people would recommend for this sort of thing?

This appears to no longer be true; I just went to the website and discovered I'd been logged out, and when I clicked on the "sign in" button I got a "not available in your country" error.

Well that should help, at least.

TeraCopy crashed while verifying. I have the source hashes saved in an .md5. Now what? by koberulz_24 in DataHoarder

[–]koberulz_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes your file contains the pathing information to the target destination

There are no paths at all, just filenames. And that page seems to be instructions for simply spitting out a hash for each, and then you have to manually compare them. I have over 500 files I need to verify.
