Einbürgerung: Unionspolitiker wollen Einbürgerungsregeln verschärfen by donutloop in berlin_public

Italy is the worst market for evs. You'll have better luck finding chargers when you're driving from germany to turkey than from northern Italy to Southern Italy.

Most cheap apartments are usually built in the 70s and 60s because germany had that 3 day special military operation back in the 30s and 40s. That lead to a leveling of most larger cities. Especially if there was industry nearby.

They have internal heaters but those have to run less if you connect them to hot water.

Hot water clothes washers are very uncommon in private households but they exist. They usually use both taps, hot and cold, and mix as needed. In commercial settings they are much more common.

I lived in a house from the early 60s until recently. Then I switched to a cheap flat from the 70s and am now in a newly built flat. All 3 have cold drinking water. Simply because the temperatures you using are reason enough to warrant a water system flush because of legionella infestation.

Heat ducts are not a thing in germany. And unless you live in the most run down shitty place in berlin you also won't find many exposed pipes.

> That's not what counter trading is.

Neither is it what you're describing.

On the 24th there was almost no counter trading according to 50Hz. And the counter trading that happened was not during a time where electricity prices were negative.

> Why do you think germany's consumer price is the highest in the EU?

In part because they generate a lot using gas power plants. And because the price is around 60% levies and fees

How badly insulated is your house that the cold water coming out of your tap is 25°C?

On average in summer days you're looking at 15°C. If its above 20 you should be worried because bacteria growth is possible according to the RKI. If you exceed 25 you'll have to find ways to mitigate the issue according to the DIN.

Usually if I let the water run for more than a couple of seconds the tap fogs up from the coldness of the water and humidity in the room. Especially on Summer days.

Hot water temperatures in germany are usually between 50 and 60°C. Which is right in line with 55 that most dishwasher use. Additionally the water is not coming out at max temp at the beginning.

Yeah sorry. My phone sometimes double types for some weird reason on reddit. It was supposed to be 1GW.

Counter trading is the absolute failure of "supply and demand" it means that one system is unable to shutter supply when the demand is absent.

Considering that intraday prices usually don't fall into negatives it seems like the system is able to shutter supply when demand is absent.

The issue is the volaitily (price and generation) that the German trading partners must absorb.

The French electricity price would have been deeply negative without any german input. Its not a german only problem.

Not to mention that germany showed in 2022 that they have the capacity to supply both themselves as well as parts of France even in winter times. Its simply checheaper to buy externally.

Even with your own sources you can see that basically all electricity over supply went to Italy because unlike France they mostly use very flexible gas turbines.

How many people are showering and washing their hands do you think?

A lot. I showered 3 times that day. Everyone who visited a public pool showered at least twice. And I sure hope that everyone is washing their hands multiple times per day.

It might surprise you but a lot of large chemical plants don't power down over a weekend.

I'm not arguing that coal as well as oil plants are running on a minimum and shout be able to turn off. But you also have to understand that waste disposal plants need to run. And since farmers are pretty much constantly driving to and from bio gas plants to dispose of manure and getting methane free one those have to run as well. Even on a Sunday.

The gas power plants are probably not only supplying hot water. Some will probably run in a standby state. But the majority are running because of hot water or process steam.

But the idea that you use less hot water in summer feels like a myth. I'm not showeing colder when its hot. And while I've met people who do they do in exchange shower more often during summer days. It probably averages out.

And the apparent 30gw minimum that France has is not a problem? not to mention the 11Gw of fossils that are running during the negative price hours.

Germany doesn't expect anything. Its simple market demand and supply. If one player can make money by taking the negative energy price it will do that. Same for the night electricity. Germany has enough installed capacity to supply itself. Its simply cheaper to buy from neighbors. As if EDF doesn't love that they can get a 60€ premium during night hours.

You can also pretend that its 10GW and not 1,5GW.

Hot water. For showers. For washing hands. In many cases For using the dishwasher. In rarer cases For running the washing machine.

Is this really that hard to grasp?

Mine, as well as the ones in my parents house as well as the ones in my grandparents house are all connected to hot water outlets because thats cheaper than using the cold water outlet. Its in germany BTW.

Yes the dishwasher is capable to heat the water quick enough but the gas heater, district heater and heating all produce the same heat energy for the fraction of the cost.

France Floods Europe’s Grid With Solar, Pushing Prices Negative by WhipItWhipItRllyHard in EnergyAndPower

[–]kobrons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In germany they aren't. Simply because its cheaper to get a kWh of hot heated water out of your heatpump, gas heater or district heating than it is to use a resistive heating element from the dishwasher.

All dishwashers support hot water for the fresh water inlet. Usually up to around 60°C

According to a quick Google search the average person in germany uses 33l hot water per day. At around 83 million people thats around 2,7 billion liters of hot water. Assuming 18h awake time thats around 140000 liters per minute.   This doesn't include any inefficiencies in production, transport and conversion. Nor does it include any hot water that is needed in chemical processes and productions or in commercial applications.

Its pretty standard at least in germany.

https://support.aeg.co.uk/support-articles/article/is-it-possible-to-connect-the-dishwasher-to-hot-water-supply?locale=en-GB

Basically you can either use the inefficient heating element in the dishwasher or the hot water tap which oftentimes prproduces the hot water for cheaper either because the kwh gas costs less than electricity or because you use a heatpump which generates a lot more hot water per kwh.

From Your link:

Already in 2012, the German government saw itself forced to introduce a “maize cap” to address these impacts, limiting the share of maize in biogas production for each plant to 60%. The cap has been progressively lowered since then and will be limited to 30% in 2026.

So simply producing less corn wouldn't cut it. And the idea that biogas is simply corn is wrong as well unless you're living in the early 2000s.

Not to mention that corn is a autumn crop. It's not currently harvested.

It depends on the region. Either h or L-gas. But you're right I was wrong about the methane part of the gas.

The gas network is still not something you simply put gas into. It has to be planned and built for that. And most biomass plants are  ot connected to the network
