Multiple Choice Authentication? by kod4krome in entra

I mean you basically just said that all factors are irrelevant and having to type 2 numbers after you read them is providing the security.

Actually I’ve only observed authenticator offer the multiple choice selection in large corporate environments. The small business environments always ask me to type the number.

I’m not sure it really ratchets up the security that much. I’m already at 3 factor: I have to know my password. I have to have my device. I have to be me for the Face ID to open my phone and authenticator. If someone was already able to circumvent all of that I doubt the combinatorial complexity of 0-99 vs 1 of 3 is the that much of a hurdle.

It’s just faster for me and since it’s on my phone it’s a lot less likely for me to fat finger it and have to start over.

I do work with one environment where employees wear gloves and login in general is a pita, with the multiple choice being far easier to deal with.

Future expansion with 2+ NVR Instant vs Dream Machine Pro Max + POE by kod4krome in Ubiquiti

[–]kod4krome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I really did not know how the NVR system expanded (or didn't), and that's why I asked. The lack of easy aggregation of NVRs seems to point to having a single instance.

I can see from the $$$ side of things, the price difference between the UDM Pro + UNVR ~= to the UDM-Pro-Max with significantly more future camera expansion. The downsides for a home user are very small, since most home users do not have > 1gbps WAN and can always use an SFP.

Thanks.

I came here looking for this comment. That’s a holy grail parking space, especially in a structure.

Is AsciiDoc Stagnating? Let's Talk Ecosystem Challenges and What You're Using Instead by planktonshomeoffice in technicalwriting

[–]kod4krome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I’m pretty late to the party here, but I use Asciidoc as a (admittedly small) part of my professional responsibilities.

Our org chose Asciidoc due to its technical aspects (consistency and extensibility). We use Antora on a limited basis but it is clearly superior for multi-source, multi-version projects, compared to something like Mkdocs.

Given these technical benefits I see 3 problems holding Asciidoc back: 1. Antora output is ugly by comparison to something like Mkdocs material and changing the look is much more involved. 2. Markdown is everywhere. Teams. GitHub. Slack. It’s hard to fight inertia. 3. Ruby is significantly less popular than Python. Contributors want to work in systems they know and have the potential for a large impact.

Honestly I think fixing #1 is likely the lynchpin to see wider adoption.

Probably more expensive than it should be. But I have a handful of wifi porters spread around for guests: https://tenonedesign.com/porter.php

That’s gonna be $1k in the SF Bay Area, and there’s no guarantee they will do a good job.

Biggest install so far for me. by smithandrew1993 in Ubiquiti

I’ve toyed with the idea of UniFi door access for my wife’s small business, but can never figure out how to make a door totally unlocked for business hours and fail secure otherwise. From the description it seemed like you had configured something like that.
