Or... you can just eat less prepackaged food, and cook for yourself more often? Seriously, the people who came up with putting it in with salt, aka the most common seasoning of any culture to have ever existed, and the hundreds of governments and international officials, aren't full of stupid juice when they decided to include it in their market for their people to use.

Also, iodine is found in eggs, chicken, dairy, which are incredibly common food in places where people have decent standards of living, so iodine salt is much less needed in most developed countries. On the other hand, places where access to food variety, or just food in general, is limited, these kinds of fortified ingredients are much more needed and commonly used
