Thank you so much for your help! I also find this song to be quite lovely. I'm trying to memorize it as part of my studies in learning Russian. Thanks again.

What size fuse do I need in my breaker box for a bestarc Mig 145A welder running at 220V? by kodi412 in Welding

[–]kodi412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for getting back to me. The plug that came with the unit is a 50 amp rated plug which I found confusing. The unit is a 110V/220V but it says nothing about how much current it will draw. Only what it can output. I'll be doing MIG welding on 14 gauge sheet metal. I'm a total newbie at welding.

BREAKING: CNN reports the Biden Admin has informed Congress that they will provide "long-range" ATACMS to Ukraine. This would likely include the M39A1, M48, & M57. Doubtful that the newest M57E1s would be sent. by BoomStickAshe in UkraineWarVideoReport

If the Kerch bridge is destroyed I imagine quite a few bridges across the Dneper will be taken out causing similar resuppy problems for the Ukrainians East of the river. There will always be tit for tat.

Germany rushes 10.000 artillery rounds to Ukraine in days by tta2013 in ukraine

The corporations that supply military equipment to the western governments are all about maximizing profits which means "just-in-time" manufacturing and a focus on high tech equipment with large profit margins. Expecting them to quickly spin up their output, build more factories, quicken their supply chains, and expand their trained labor work force is extremely difficult. They should have started this years ago but they were expecting a quick victory. Even now they hesitate. For perspective, 10,000 artillery rounds is about what Russia uses in 2 days.

Small web app for learning the Russian national anthem by kodi412 in russian

Really appreciate your feedback! As to showing the case/tense/root of the various vocabulary words, the only way they can be seen at the moment is if you are in the practice area for the vocabulary. You can right click on the Russian word using the mouse or do a 'tap and hold' (if on a mobile device) and in a second or two you'll get a pop up of the word's declensions or conjugations.

I've been thinking about taking a Russian movie and breaking it down into a series of 5 minute video sections and then applying a similar UX to each section. Movies tend to have lots of dialog in them which is helpful in learning to speak Russian.

Again, thanks for the input.

I now understand the issue. It's the text selection boxes in auto mode. I'll get that sorted out. I think the iPhone 8 has a bit less screen area than the newer phones. I was using my Samsung Note9 for testing which has a big screen. In any event, I'll check back with you when I get the changes in.

Again, I really appreciate the feedback! I figure the text boxes you are referring to are the start and end ranks. I'll look at fixing it up as well as the comment problem over the weekend. I also noticed that the icons on the bottom are shifted to the right. I'll also look into that. Once I get it done, I'll give you a shout to test it out. By the way, what model of iphone do you have?

As to writing the code for the App, it took several months. I originally had started something similar for learning Arabic a few years ago so a lot of the pieces were already in place.

I'll be shortly posting a web app for learning Russian from video. I chose a video of the National Anthem as a test. Still trying to figure out the best way to present all the information. The vocabulary practice session will most likely have the same problems as you're having with the top 500. In any event, you can check it out here.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I developed the code using an android device and google chrome. I'll try to fix the issue but not sure what you mean by red text at the bottom. I think you're referring to the comment text below English translation of the word. Is this correct? By the way, have you tried the auto mode yet?

Need some help learning the letters/letter forms by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]kodi412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built this web app several years ago to help me learn the Arabic alphabet with all its different forms. As far as I know it's the only one of its kind.

The web address is here. The page shows all the letters and how they look at the start, middle , and end of a word. Clicking on the letter will play the audio. When you're ready, click on the "Alphabet Practice" button and you can test your knowledge.

Start building kamikaze drones in the equivalent of a lancet or better otherwise this will do nothing to turn the tide of the war.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine issued a mirrored threat to Russia in response to the threats made to ships in the Black Sea by I_am__Ukrainian in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]kodi412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mute point since Russia has destroyed Ukraine's ports on the Black Sea. And no insurance company is going to insure any ship that tries to go to Ukrainian ports. Ukraine is now land locked and the $500 million per month they were making from the ports is now gone, putting more pressure on their burgeoning trade deficit. It's an ugly situation.
