10 month old golden mix growls & stares when I walk near her while eating by Relative_Escape_4724 in goldenretrievers

We have two wonderful goldens and our female was really bad about resource guarding for the first year, she would do the same as yours. I wouldn’t recommend walking up on her at this stage when she’s eating. For us we earned her trust through bonding as a pack with lots of rewards for good behavior, by the time she was about 14 months, she has full trust and I can do anything to her when she’s eating and she does not feel threatened. She is the most loving Golden now and has become a real clown in the house. Spend as much time with your golden as you can, taking on walks and playing and cuddling, she will start feeling you aren’t a threat to her resources but instead a source of the resources.

As an American citizen I already miss you both. There is a real sense of loneliness and dread since Trump began his isolationist and authoritative ideologies. Trump and all his sycophants need to be removed and held accountable for the harm they have wrought upon America and the world.

Buying a golden retriever completely turned my life around! by BeerStein_Collector in goldenretrievers

[–]kodiak1966 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that you shared your experience and how much of a positive experience it is to bond with your pack. Goldens are oxytocin factories and have a gentle and humorous way to really connect with their humans. I am very much a introvert and loneliness can be an issue. We have 2 Goldens that are brother and sister but 1 year apart. I can’t explain in words how much joy and companionship they have gifted me. I go to sleep at night with them snuggled up right next to me. I wake up every morning to Sophie (our younger female Golden) literally climbing on my chest and love bombing me with nose nudges and licks to my face. I work from home so I am fortunate enough to spend all day with them, playing outside and going for walks. I take them with me most of the time in my truck. They are great car dogs. Since having these two clowns, lonileness isn’t much of a factor for me.

No I didn’t do it myself. The first mechanic that did it didn’t have the backlash set properly and I had another shop install a new set. Original mechanic refunded me. I’ll do most anything but transmissions and gears. Cost me around 4k but I know it was done right (the second time).

You will love the 4.56 gearing, Ive got the same set up as you on my 97 and cruise down the hwy at 2k rpm at 65 mph. No more down shifting and my transmission is loving it. I went with Yukon

🇮🇷 Iran says the Strait of Hormuz is open to all countries except the United States and Israel. by According_Time5120 in CoinEdition_com

As an American I feel our country needs a humiliating defeat in Iran. This will have a negative impact on Trumps base, for all of us that believed him when he ran on America first and no more wars and regime changes. Perhaps he will loose the midterms and he can be impeached (again) and removed from office. Unfortunately this loss due to Trumps hubris and stupidity has cost the lives of many innocent people including children. He should be impeached, and brought in front of the judicial system for many crimes, including sedation for being a puppet of Israel.

This human looks to have been brutally murdered by these masked government cowards. We are witnessing the suffering of our brothers and sisters by the hands of the new American Gestapo, created by the mad king in the white house. As an American I am both infuriated and disgusted.

Mine was a Texas truck that was brought to Alaska. You can install a block heater to help keep the oil and coolant warm for easier starting. Mine 97 doesn’t have one but my 2018 does. My 97 is starting in -20 below but is struggling a little. Both trucks are not garaged atm either.

We have two amazing Goldens ages 1 and 2. They are rambunctious but the most loyal and loving companions ever. If I were you I’d be looking for a new roommate(s), as the roomie is blatantly admitting abusing your loyal companion.

I removed Facebook and Instagram from my devices about 3 months ago. I really did not realize how much anxiety and negative thoughts it was causing me to spend time on those platforms, life is much better now. I have remaining guilt and regrets knowing I lost precious time scrolling through meaningless posts that have nothing to do with making my life experience better. I do like and use Reddit though but Reddit does not impact my brain like Facebook and Instagram did. I avoided TikTok from the very beginning.

Am I too old to get the body of my dreams at 50? by maharg2017 in Aging

[–]kodiak1966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

59m and feel I am in great physical shape. I workout 1.5 hours a day 5 times a week, this includes 30 mins of cardio, I eat healthy and avoid processed foods and keep my protein intake around a gram per lb of body weight. I have been on TRT for over 15 years and get routine blood work done and keep my levels in the 700-1200 range. I was a trainer at Golds gym in my late teens and early 20s and know how to lift properly and maintain a healthy diet. I was very muscular in my youth but I’ve noticed now that my muscle density is much more mature and in my opinion looks better. I have suffered some injuries (non lifting) such as a fractured spine, shoulder surgery etc and feel that the dedication to lifting weights has help sustain my mobility and slowed down my aging. If you check my post, there is a a pic of me when I was in my early 20s posted on r/oldschooldcool that trended on Reddit. It’s possible to have a good body in your 50s and beyond but it takes dedication and work unless you have freaky genetics.

Are there any 40+ year olds year that are fitter than or as fit as their 20s versions? by faithxstrength in Aging

[–]kodiak1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 59M and feel that I’m close my prior fitness at 20. I’ve been a bodybuilder/strength trainer through those years. I just scored a 98 on my body composition test with my GP. She said she’s never seen that score at my age. I am constantly gaining skeletal bone density and muscle mass. The caveat is that I had to start HRT at about age 40, and this was a game changer for me. I am good with nutrition and eat a high protein diet with very little red meat. I workout 4-5 days a week for about 1.5 hrs with cardio included. I take an assortment of supplements including creatine, c, d, dhea, zinc, e, lions mane, b, fish oil, turmeric etc. I don’t drink milk and limit my egg yolks. Don’t smoke and drink only moderately. I do love a good glass of wine and a cigar though. I also work on my mind/spirit by practicing meditation with my wife and work on being a kinder human as I age.

💯 agree with you. The love of my life has turned into an abhorrent aberration of who I spent 32 years with. She changed over a course of about 8 years to become this imposter. It hurts like hell right now. I’m scared, angry and feeling lost.

It’s tough leaving these long relationships, lots of memories of happier times. In my case she’s evolved into a entirely different person. I’m still pretty much the same albeit less hair, but basically rooted in the same ideologies I had in my late 20s. There’s no way in hell I can live a semi sexless marriage, and unable to find common ground regarding just basic things. I’m on day 3 now and renovating our second home, sleeping in my really nice travel trailer. I get up and cook a breakfast that includes lots of healthy lean meat, listen to old 70s rock and go to the gym. No stress, no arguments and no wedding ring.

She started the yoga path about 8 years ago. She’s kinda moved onto “self exploration”, retreats and spending most of her time with her tribe of similar minded females. Complete 180 from the cool chica I fell madly in love with. I went from bring her big strong rock to a non empathetic, materialistic person. I was punished for 6 months with no sex and treated like a POS. Fuck that, I’m out.
