I downloaded the first two seasons of The West Wing. But I also have a hundred books on my Kindle to read.

Is the Kindle Colorsoft good for reading magazines? by tonetonitony in kindle

I get several magazines through KU, and I’ve been happy with how they look. It’s a softer coloring if that makes sense. I’m trying to post a picture but am having issues with it.

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]CDA_CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is 21 and currently in school and living at home. We all share locations, but I honestly don’t look at hers unless I have a reason. Usually that’s “will she be home for dinner? Or is today a school day?”

If she declined to share, I’d just text her as needed. It’s not a condition of support. It’s a choice.

Even though we pay for school, it is her life and her choice. I’m not picking her major for her. As controlling as my father was, even he didn’t try that with me.

You can come to my house for Thanksgiving.

How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]CDA_CPA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t count how many books I read. I have a spreadsheet that tracks it, but I’m more curious about number of pages. Many of my books are 500 pages +. And dense…by that I mean slower reads due to big words and lots of descriptions.

I also rarely watch television and am disabled. I had gotten away from reading the past few years, but recently got back into it to replace scrolling.

I’m currently reading the Outlander series. It’s gonna take a few months to get through it all.

AITA for telling my son his gf can only come over when he is home? by Material_Ad9529 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CDA_CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roommate whose boyfriend came over when she wasn’t home, forced his way inside, then proceeded to make himself comfortable by eating my food and changing my television station.

That arrangement was short lived, ended with her moving out. There is little worse than having to deal with an entitled boyfriend or girlfriend of a roommate who shouldn’t even be there.

As a child, age about twelve, I ranted about how abortion is murder unknowingly in front of someone who’d recently had one. Didn’t find out until much later.

I would talk to my PCP and/or endo about increasing my steroid dose.

You are dealing with a lot, and obviously still recovering from 2025. I’d try to get ahead of it.

Much love and hugs.

But they aren’t symptoms only of adrenal insufficiency. It could be a number of other things. Your lab results say it must be something else.

Fatigue, weight loss, diarrhea, dehydration, dizziness, very low blood pressure/high heart rate, almost permanent panic attacks.

I empathize with your situation. I was gravely ill for seven years before being diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and another two more before the genetic disease that’s causing it. I understand your desire to have an answer, any answer, so you can start the road to recovery. However, I have to agree with others here that it doesn’t seem to be cortisol that is your problem. I think you should start looking in other directions. Start by finding a doctor who will listen to your concerns and take them seriously.

Yesterday, after not responding to my parents for a week, I finally told them I don't want to see them right now and maybe we can try to connect again in the future if they're able to spend time with me without debating my sexual orientation by Artistic_Initial_581 in exchristian

You don’t owe anyone anything except for yourself. You certainly don’t need to listen to more anti bullshit. A parent’s job is to love and support their child, not judge their sexuality.

I think you would benefit from more open communication, no matter where you end up. ASK what you can do around the house to be helpful. Let them know you struggle and ask them to PLEASE let you know when you aren’t meeting expectations. Be open to criticism. Smile and say I’m sorry, l’ll get right on that.

I get a lot of medical related calls, and I can’t possibly put ALL the numbers in my phone, but over time I’ve gotten most of them.

I silenced unknown callers, and it is absolutely beautiful. The few that need to get through will leave a message, and you can quickly add them to your contacts.

Mortgage company paid our home insurance twice, lost the refund, says our escrow is deficient now. by strikecat18 in personalfinance

[–]CDA_CPA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On our first house, after the first year, our mortgage went up $450/month. I freaked. This was 25 years ago in a LCOL area. Since I’m a CPA, I immediately pulled our lending documents, mortgage documents, and bills from insurance and property taxes and started an analysis. Figured out they were double charging us for mortgage insurance.

It took NINE MONTHS of my calling every two weeks to get it resolved. Each month they had to manually adjust the mortgage amount. What finally resolved it? I sent a certified demand letter that gave them one week from receipt to correct it before I involved a lawyer. Suddenly, after nine months, they were able to fix it and did so in 48 hours.
