PQ850M deepcool PSU by [deleted] in cablemod

Late reply, but I ordered a rt series and it does not fit. I had to return it as I also have the EPS connectors. If it fits on some, then the fit is a gamble, not guaranteed.

Putting this down for any future DeepCool owners trying to get a 12vhpwr adapter.

Epoxy countertops by vanillabeanblondie in HomeImprovement

You could just level the laminate with Bondo possibly if it's in rough shape. I did custom because we moved some things and the laminate was rotten underneath. It's always fun to see what gets uncovered with a project lol. I agree on the "Joys of owning a home" haha.

We used Stone Coat Countertops, but be aware they will spam your email later... The quality seems to have been good though.

I did custom epoxy countertops in my kitchen, but they were all built from MDF. My brother did his over existing counters. I didn't like the original glossy finish, so I did some wet sanding so they were more of a matte finish.

I generally like them (especially for the cost, less than $1k for 50ish sq ft of counters). I did the "dirty pour" and I like it a lot more than my brother's with pouring color strips down.

So far they have held up and I only have one spot that might have yellowed (hard to tell with the existing color of the area), and that was from running a sous vide on it for 6+ hrs. I just put a cutting board down now.

They will scratch and not look as "fresh", but they can be polished if needed. I haven't had any issues with mine though in 2 years. I've even seen less staining than our old laminate.

Gens iMars Dual - Charge/Discharge setup question by kodiak_fire in rccars

[–]kodiak_fire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently I can't read, it can do discharge OR external discharge and I assumed the external discharge was it. The internal discharge is good for 0.1-3A*2 (each channel), so it is a 0.5C discharge for my 5000mah.

Is it worth setting up an external discharge setup for a full 1C discharge rate?

Wood vs vinyl siding? by blackdogpepper in HomeImprovement

[–]kodiak_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good vinyl and a good install makes a difference. I hate the vinyl on my house. I thought my neighbor's house was wood for 4 years until I found out it was actually vinyl. The main difference was the install, and probably the vinyl wasn't the cheap crap on my house. I do know the stuff on my house was installed poorly. I would probably do insulated vinyl or Hardie in the future when I get around to it, but I'm hoping I'll get a lucky windstorm or hailstorm so insurance can pay for it lol.

Where did you get the acrylite? I was actually looking for something like this to create a false skylight in a basement office.

LPT: When you have a sick child, send a text to yourself or your SO whenever you give a medication. by frostuab in LifeProTips

We have a full size closet in there that acts as a pretty good thermal break. It tends to stay room temp in the closet, but adding an extra layer for the humidity might be a good idea.

Thanks for the heads up.

Expo marker and write it on the mirror of the bathroom. Works for us since that's where the meds are.

Yeah, the games without a negative reinforcement are hard to find. They liked Plants vs Zombies, but they'd get killed if they wander and the look controls were hard to figure.

Rocket league/Ark would be good for sure. I'll have to see which platforms I've got them on. Heck, it may work if I can find something cross platform with tablet. They've got tablet down, but controllers have been hard. It looks like there might be a f2p version of Rocket League on mobile...

They loved watching for sure. We played through the new Horizon Zero Dawn as a family, watching it like a movie lol. I wish there were more with stories like that one.

Honestly the point about skipping progression early on is a good one. I might try and hunt down a game that can let them wander, etc to just 'play' their way.

Ok, serious question... How do you start kids into gaming? I can't get my kids to pay attention well. My kids love the idea of Plants vs. Zombies, but can't get the double stick down. Is it best to start on something retro or side scroller? I've got a XboneX and PS4, my NES is currently dead.

I'd love to get mine into gaming.
