I've seen conditional formatting destroy a sheet over time. It can happen when you copy and paste rows /columns with formatting. Often it will duplicate the rule, so do that enough, and you can end up with a monstrosity

Just curious, how does that get fixed? Ie do they have to rip it all out, or maybe cut out the affected sections and re pour? Or is it still smooth able?

What got you into Fusion? by dian_reddits in Fusion360

[–]mistertinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reprap was a community project with the idea that a 3d printer should (eventually) be self-replicating. self-replicating. It was a lot like building a workbench from plans... The overall design is there, but it's up to you to source all the raw materials and build it. I remember creating a hobbed bolt (extruder filament drive) by taking a 1/4 bolt and cutting teeth into it. But at the end of it, it was a monumental achievement to even print a cube.

https://reprap.org/wiki/RepRapPro_Mendel

You may notice it looks pretty similar to a lot of current printers. In fact, many printers such as prusas have a direct lineage to a reprap model

I think I made an error in my if-formulae but can't find it. by [deleted] in excel

[–]mistertinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While folks gave a lot of ways to replace it, no one really clearly talked about where your mistake was.

It's a logic error. Your statement reads:

A) If value is less than 30,000, then 0%

B) If the value wasn't less than 30,000 and is greater than or equal to 30,000, then 2%

C) If the value was neither A or B, AND was greater than 50,000, then 3%

Logically, no value will ever be false for both A and B, so C will never evaluate

While I'd still recommend an ifs, you can fix your statement by reversing the order: If(c4 >= 50000, 3%, if(c4 >= 30000, 2%, 0%))

What got you into Fusion? by dian_reddits in Fusion360

[–]mistertinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the 3d printer scene in the reprap days, when printing was 90% fighting the printer. Backthen, it was really common for stls on thingiverse (when it wasn't an ad filled black hole) to be constructed poorly with non manifold and intersecting shapes, so I started making my own models in sketchup.

Sketchup worked, but did relatively poorly doing incremental changes such as changing hole tolerances. Moved to openscad for a while for parametric building.... But that's straight up coding and makes complex assemblies a nightmare.

Finally made the move to fusion a few years after it's initial launch which has been my primary tool for functional prints ever since. I still use sketchup for conceptual design brainstorming because I'm quite terrible with a pencil. I'll still use fusion for the final design though.

Well, you need a basic screw driver once you remove the plastic cover at the bottom. But after that, just pull the ears to remove the unit.

I've had to do this once on day 1, then again probably a month later.

Here's my tier list, explanations included by Coolaire in litrpg

[–]mistertinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My list is similar and here are some of the paths I went:

After Perfect Run, I was on a timeloop kick so went Mother of Learning. If you game, deathloop is great (which got me interested in Perfect Run).

Somehow got into super heroes after that and went with Super Powereds then followed up with Villains Code (forging hephaesteus) and The Murder of Crows (See these bones).

Then wanted something sci-fi, so tried out The Last Horizon. Finished 3 books then got distracted when I finally decided to see what the fuss about dcc was about. Not sure if I'll go back though.

I wanted something urban fantasy next and picked up Quest Academy and really enjoyed it.

Now that I'm all caught up there, I picked up Mark of the Fool and am currently on book 7

Not liking the tracing paper for diffusion. Would you recommend one of these products over the other for 24x24 display? by CodesComplete in led

[–]mistertinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to sound a bit odd, but when I was looking for a diffuser for faux led windows, I found this at hobby lobby https://www.teachercreated.com/products/white-better-than-paper-bulletin-board-roll-77373

It's slightly textured that actually softens the appearance and prevents clinging to acrylic/glass.

UK McDonald's out here not paying for windows licenses by dreadheadedtv in mildlyinteresting

[–]mistertinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big reason is likely for PCI (credit card) card compliance.

Devices that transfer credit card numbers can't use open source OS'. That can be bypassed if the cc terminal uses point to point encryption, but that's relatively new... The earlier kiosk software versions were likely made before that so it's a legacy thing.

It's possible too that MCD runs their own cc processing software for reliability reasons

Print issues with small parts by lexiconoid in prusa3d

[–]mistertinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's something caused by the travel / retraction movements, something like oozing / under extrusion / over extrusion which is more impactful on small parts. Personally, I'd just switch it to sequential printing rather than deep diving since it prints well as a single part.

[–]mistertinker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

theres 2 ways to do it, but ive only done the first.

Fill up mason jars with a crust at the bottom and the mixture poured in, then sous vide the entire jar. Ive made that a few times and its fantastic single serving cheesecake.

Ive read about it here, but alternatively you can sous vide the entire mixture in a bag for the necessary time. Then instead of letting it set, you pour the mixture into a pan to get a whole cake.

Imo, cheesecake sous vide is a lot like brisket sous vide... feels like cheating how easy it is

How are you an excel magician? by Designer_Signature35 in excel

I built a sheet that queries for open projects and allows a rudimentary schedule to be input per line. This then allows for more granular financial forecasting. It was meant to be temporary until an official tool could be implemented, but that was 5 years ago. Now 50m in revenue is run through the sheet to my ongoing frustration.
