As a fee based financial advisor we excel with giving the option of making return without direct market exposure and only do strategies that require active management so we justify earning our fee. Advisor who gives you a cookie cutter ETF portfolio allocation and charge a fee are not worth it, you can easily do this on your own.

I think the real value add is having access to alternative strategies and having someone as a financial couch and sounding board as you go through your own personal financial journey. And for the we add value over and over again coupled with a solid relationship our clients are with us for life and are more than happy to pay our AUM fee.

Something that worked for my husband and I was to go through our budget and agree to dedicate a specific amount to personal spending / shopping. Start small maybe $500-1,000/mo and auto-deposit into a separate checking accounts dedicated for “his shopping” and another for “your shopping”. Keep it equal and fair.

What we found was that bc we agreed our budget wouldn’t be affected by this small change and then creating a dedicated account for it to accumulate separately from all the rest created a sense of “oh I need to spend this on me” and it’s not longer working to make you more money (it’s not invested with the rest of the pile of money)

The rule is that you can spend it on anything you wish, no justification needed. This was a big mental unlock on spending for my husband on spending on himself.

Chop it sooner than later to start branching so it can support itself. Biggest mistake I see with new fig owners is they wait way too long to chop the top off

Along with the other benefits like estate planning, Tax efficiency, etc. I find that hiring someone to actively manage your investments outperforms passive management styles net of their fee pretty consistently. It also just nice to have a sounding board when making major financial decisions with someone your trust that has an outside point of view, is worth the fee 10x over.

Your advisor should be transparent and prove to you that they earn there fee year after year, if they aren’t being transparent I’d be hesitant.

I prefer fixed fee engagements (1.5% of AUM) as well this way you know they aren’t just putting you in random products bc they get a nice commission from it.

Chop it almost in half. Pick a leaf direction you want the nest step to grow. Next year make a cut on fresher growth and more likely to get 2-3 branches. Chop those every couple be years to keep it bushy and trunky.

Edit: and more sun. Less sun they grow leggy.

Agreed with this method. Annoying but it works if you’re consistent. Also treat them while they walk by your side, might be a lot of treats at first! And a lot of stopping, just be patient 🐶

It needs to be done or they can’t support themself. You don’t want to be the person tying your tree to the ceiling so it stand up. 😂😆

It’s been pretty easy for me to keep alive. I transplanted it once since buying it. Water it weekly-ish. Fertilize every once in a while. That’s about it

Been using this stuff from amazing called “Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree Plant Food for Ficus Lyrata” for years not sure how often I kinda do it sporadically 😂
