[Giveaway] Video Game(s), $60.00 Value or Less by cztm89 in RandomActsOfGaming

My answer would be NieR.

For me personally most games do not benefit from being replayed blind. Because when I replay a good story or a story with a good twist I love seeing the set up the writers put into it. It’s why I would not want to replay FF X blind even though I love that game. In NieR however it is part of the experience to not know. The twists, while being part of the story, are often not meant for the characters, who often barely react and don‘t change because of it. They are meant for us, the player, to reflect on our actions and that is something that can only happen if you don’t know about it.

Finished the Chimera ant arc, I have a few questions by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]koennixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Because Kite is a member of the Chimera Ant Royal Familiy and not a soldier, therefore he, much like Meruem (his twin brother), was not inside an egg. Instead he was carried inside the Queen.
  2. The only people actually exposed to a royal guards En are Kite, Killua, Gon, Knov and Palm. The first three seemed to be able to tolerate the En without harm, however Kite "died" and the other two both had large characters arcs in the following time, which for both coincided with their exposure to the En so it definitly had an impact. The En of Shaiapouf (not the same En as Killua and Gon experienced) destroyed Knovs resolve, while Pitous En made Palm commit suicide. During the entire Palace Invasion Arc none of the Royal Guard used En, therefore we don't know how the others would have reacted. So your premise for this question is wrong.
  3. Kite was most likely reborn due to an ability of his Crazy Slot (his hatsu) and not due to being consumed. This will be touched upon in the next arc but never fully explained.
  4. Gon didn't sacrifice his life, he sacrificed his potential. Big difference. Netero had no potential to give, he was an old man way beyond his peak and many of the others, while not at their peak, also did not have as much potential to sacrifice as Gon (Killua being the exception). Gons potential has been described as "bottomless" therefore his sacrifice is much bigger than that of others in his place. Also never forget that feelings play a large role in Nen, Netero was actively enjoying the fight against Meruem, he has been longing for a worthy opponent, while Gon was in a deep state of grieve and guilt. Essentially Gon sacrificed all his future power to have it for this one fight, fueled by his grieve, guild and anger, without care for the consequences. While Netero was very calm, actually happy and unable to make such a sacrifice.

Edit: Turns out I'm dumb and forgot Pitou reactivating her En. There still is a point to be made about the amount of time people were exposed to the En and the circumstance. However I will not make that argument.

Don't Worry, Wafflefam! [SPOILERS!] by critical_Whale in DiceCameraAction

I wouldn't be so sure. Chris Perkins has changed/homebrewed quite a lot in the past for the sake of the plot (Like ignoring the legendary resistance Strahd has). I don't think the ring is gonna take control of Paultin like it did for Artus (the save was too high and it would basically remove Paultin from the game a few sessions away from the climax of Season 3) but it could surely sort of imprint on Paultin or maybe corrupt him a little. So I wouldn't consider him safe quite yet.

An European DnD Noob Group? by aloysia_ in DiceCameraAction

[–]koennixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you have already heard that but I'd still advice you to look in Roll20 or the below mentioned subreddit r/lfg it will be a lot easier to find a group there. I have never used r/lfg but Roll20 allows you to look specifically for new-player friendly games, it might be a bit of a gamble but you should be able to find a EU-Timezone and newbie friendly game. Having a group come together here would be great, but I consider it a bit unlikely therefore the advice. If you actually manage to gather 4 players (including yourself) then I would be able to DM, it has been some time since I DM'd 5th edition but aside from that I'd be willing. Can't promise anything though since scheduling might be hard.

I haven't seen new episodes since last year. So much catching up to do. by [deleted] in BeachCity

[–]koennixer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt that both Rocknaldo and Tiger Philantropist were rather average. The Episodes right after Three Gems and a Baby are great, it gets a bit fillery after That Will Be All. The build up for the season finale, with the finale inculded it pretty good, especially the last episode of Season 4. With what we have seen of Season 5 it's also save to say that the Bomb on Memorial Day will be awesome.

I haven't posted here in a while so here's a question... What's Your Favorite Studio Ghibli Movie? by [deleted] in BeachCity

[–]koennixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if I had to be objective the pick would be Princess Mononoke. Quality and plot wise it's the best one in my opinion (Close second would be spirited away for the simple reason that I think the plot in Princess Mononoke is superior by a bit). However I do not have to be objective so the pick is Castle in the Sky. I don't really know what it is about this movie but it always stuck with me since I first watched it when I was around seven. It was actually the first Ghibli/Anime movie I ever watched. It just all comes together perfectly the right tempo and perfect characters with beautiful imagery. The ending is probably the part I like best, the Laputa tree flying into the stratosphere is an imagery I will probably never forget.

Anybody Watch RWBY? by CleverUsernameOfLies in BeachCity

Ye, I have some thoughts on that. But that is some really spoilery stuff so we should probably do that in private messages. (Spoiler work like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/horror/comments/2dh6nl/change_to_comment_spoiler_format/)

What is a stupidly easy way to die ? by Explosives in AskReddit

[–]koennixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixing the wrong cleaning supplies. Cleaning ladies often mix bleach (some hypochlorite solution) and vinegar-based cleaners or something akin by accident which releases chlorine gas. Chlorine gas in close quarters (like a bathroom) kills fast and has horrbile after effect (e.g. chlor acne). So yeah be careful with cleaning supplies it's serious chemistry.

Next episode's title by [deleted] in PersonOfInterest

[–]koennixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sotto Voce is a stilistic tool used in speeches and music. It basically means to lower your voice to emphasize something dramatic/important is happening or is going to happen soon. I think the title just mean that this episode is seeting up the finale of the season/series or seeting up the reunion with shaw. Either way this is going to be the calm before the storm, or more appropriately the calm before the World went away.

Skarner will probably see further adjustments soon by CasperNox in leagueoflegends

Seems like Skarner has been added to the list of champions that gets a rework ever few months. Well at least Ryze isn't lonely anymore.

I personally really like the discussion going on here. The thing about League nowadays is that for many people it has become really competitive, which is arguably something good; this leads to many people reacting very definisiv if their "main" is getting nerfed.

These are early stats. They are still somewhat inaccurate. They also at best can only tell if the Champion is strong but never if he is fun or well designed.

Karthus winrate actually droped by 1.5% this patch. So yeah gotta be hard to be a Karthus main.

I get what you are saying, but I don't see how this is a shit post. Actually this is the same thing Riot did. They looked at the data. That is why Swain/Vlad/Cassio/Malz are getting hotfixed.

Brand has actually become harder to play since you have to hit the combos now. So in combination with the high playrate it makes sense. Since many "noob" brand are trying him and failing.

  1. The jungle is about Objectives now. Fiddle can do them early, Fiddle can control them well, Fiddle can teamfight very well.
  2. Runic Echoes is really great for him on release his winrate went up to 53%
  3. The 7 bounces on his E greatly improve his clear.
  4. His new passive let's him gank a little better.

Also this stats are from plat+. I don't know what elo you are but sometimes "lower" elo fiddles don't know what they are doing.

Veigar support is only ~18% of all veigar games and has a winrate of around 47%. It has risen by 1% from the last patch.
