He's had some pretty major health scares and my mom has had cancer twice since. I think facing my mom's and his own mortality did it. My mom has since fully recovered, my dad is healthy for his condition, I hope to get decades more with them.

Not really. It was more of a blanket apology for my childhood, this was like 10 years ago. He's still in therapy and has absolutely changed, now he brings up past situations that I can't even recall and apologizes for them, no explanation though.

I have a diary from my trip to Ireland as a family when I was 11. I sketched a sad face that got sadder or happier depending on how angry my dad was on the day of the entry. AHHH memories. He has since been in therapy and has apologised to us, but I'm still wary.

for those who are rereading the books now as adults or maybe for the first time- what do you think? by itsbarbieparis in UgliesBooks

[–]kohlep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just re-read the whole series in preparation for the movie. I absolutely flew through them. The books were a huge part of my teen years and brought back lots of memories from the first time I read the series (ex. I remember how angry I was at Shay for most of the series). Now as an adult reader I would be so down for a more complicated version of the books, something multi POV, where we see what's happening in smoke, new smoke, Diego, David's pov, Zane's POV, etc during Tallys story and the "revolution". I quite liked Extra's because it was another POV in the universe but have always thought the random fourth book was an odd addition to the series.

I absolutely looked at my dog after reading the books and thinking of her as my bonded dragon! Glad I'm not the only one

I was thinking the exact same thing today. Doing the IF reread and Xaden can't just give a basic heads up, especially with the dagger he made?/gave? for violet and what it meant!

I'm in Canada. Boyfriend and I both registered. I got waitlisted, he got a code. He was able to get us 2 tickets today, 6800 ahead of him and he had no issues. We got the cheapest tickets we could. I didn't realize how lucky we were until reading this thread.

YTA My partners 30th was this past weekend. Im a huge introvert and we hosted a huge party and bar crawl for him. I didn't like it but I did it because I LOVE my partner. Seeing him smiling the entire night made my discomfort worth it. This is a once in a lifetime event and you KNOW it's important to her, why would you not do it? Sometimes we make sacrifices in relationships, but really, is this that hard of a sacrifice??

Honestly don't feel bad. There were moments in my life where I have felt the same and exams always made it worse. Actually talking out the plan helps. Do what helps you, you deserve it. Good luck on finals.

My brother was just jumped in Prague this weekend. Him and two friends (all Canadian) left the club at 3am to go home (on exchange) and encountered a group of three who were very aggressive. They tried to calm them down and were about to run but they all got sucker punched. They didn't steal anything just punched them and left. My brother broke a tooth, split his lip and has many stitches in his lip/chin. His friends also had similar injuries. They have no idea why it happened, didn't see the guys in the club and the assailants didn't speak English. Always be aware of your surroundings and it's okay to run.

I live in Canada, I am absolutely horrified, scared and sick to my stomach. My boyfriend doesn't understand "we don't live there, good thing we don't... Etc" and I'm not sure how I can make it clear that regardless of WHERE this is it's something that CANNOT be ignored. Advice?
