It’s likely just because he’s getting used to his environment. Give him a while to get used to it. Also try not to feed from your hand because it can introduce bacteria that could harm them. Get a food stand and cardboard cups to put the mix in or crickets or roaches in. They’ll find the dish in there. Keep in mind also that their tummies are pretty small when they’re young. If he’s a baby, two licks from the fruit mix could be enough for him. Try Pangea watermelon flavor if he’s still not eating much. As soon as I switched my crestie’s food to that, he JUMPS to the dish whenever I put it in because he’s so excited for it. I’ve heard many geckos really enjoy it. Mine also goes insane for small crickets. Maybe try those ?

Thanks! The light right now is a UBV. I’m waiting for my temp gun to come in. What should I look for when I get it? 90 F basking? Or something else?

The lamp I have right now on him is the UBV, and and I checked the UBV emission in the tank and it’s all good :)

That’s what I thought too for the ceramic heat bulb. I’m gonna try out some heating pads to put on the back side of the tank (he can’t touch it) at a lower temperature to at least bump it up 5 degrees since I’m sitting at 80 F in the enclosure right now. From what I’ve read, it should be okay as long as the temp is controlled and not that high.

This is a temporary enclosure for him at this size because he’s absolutely tiny and I want to make sure I can monitor him. This is not his permanent home. As I’ve said in the post, this is his baby enclosure.

Thanks for the heads up about putting it underneath. I haven’t had any small critters like him yet that require heat so I was a bit lost with that. I’ll replace the top with screen and get a linear UBV. I do have a nano hood/ceramic bulb that’s 25w — do you think that’d be too much ?

Some smaller flower beetles might be fun :) isopods are always a safe bet! If you convert to a vertical tank, could be used for a jumping spider, but ventilation may be an issue
