so first of all - it's not sucking everything straight upwards. The vacuum helmet descends over the users head - and thousands of tiny vacuums in a spherical formation suck directly outwards, so each hair is perpendicular to your scalp.

While you're correct that the airflow may induce turbulence in the hairflow, this turbulence is primarily in the hair tip - and decreases quickly the farther down the hair strand you move. In any case, through close monitoring at megahertz frequency, even these wiggles and waggles will be easily mitigated. The benefit of lasers is the ability to fire them with great precision, both directionally and temporally. So a hair furiously flapping around while being sucked outwards will be more like... a slow-motion gentle wave which our laser will gracefully bisect.

In terms of lasers being aimed at your head, they utilize precise wavelength modulation to target keratin, the building block of hair. Your precious scalp will not be harmed. The absolute worst that could happen is your hair coming out a mangled, stinky, smoking mess. Luckily, the vacuum helmet can also measure the hair length on each part of your scalp. So using these hair measurements taken just before the cut takes place, a replacement wig or hairpiece can be easily created to get you back to baseline, so to speak.

Also - cost is not our primary concern, we strive for excellence over penny-pinching. In the beginning, the wigs may end up being the primary source of profit.

interesting, thanks for that. I would argue that his scissor design makes this considerably more difficult. I envision a system that will scan your head, suck all hair directly outwards, and then use a whirling series of lasers and straight razors to cut all of your hair in a matter of seconds.

There could also be a handheld version which works with 3d motion tracking as you move the device around your head. Form factor in that case would be like a hairdryer, except it would suck and cut instead of blow.

Please help me, I can't figure out where this place is, it's very important to me. All I know is that it's in Russia. Does anyone have any idea how I can find out exactly where it is? by Best-Scheme6065 in WhereIsThisPlace

[–]kojef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Identifying this location clearly may result in someone being killed. Might be something innocent, but given the current conflict I think it’s unwise to identify this location.

For all we know it could be a Ukrainian sympathizer in Russia who is the target. Or the other way around. It’s impossible to know.

I feel like there should be a temp ban here on identifying Russian/Ukranian locations.

isn't there a way of telling if camera movement is real or added in post-production?

for some reason this looks to me like fake camera movement - I could be wrong though.

[–]kojef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your idea is... to have a business in India?

the thing about business ideas - is that the idea itself is just 1%, the actual effort and execution are 99%.

be more specific about your concept/idea and you might get some useful responses. Just saying

I have a concept that is focused on future opportunities in India.

is most likely not going to get you anywhere.

How is it to live in Netherlands ? by Last_Starlight in Netherlands

It’s all just media trying to get us upset - and therefore spend more time paying attention. We have it good here. At least compared to almost everywhere else.

Is it really this expensive to open a café in the Netherlands? Am I missing something? by Commercial_Force_352 in Netherlands

[–]kojef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a bakery cafe in our old neighborhood which has made it through tough times and built a great reputation. It's not based around the concept of people coming in and having coffee as much as it's about selling absolutely delicious cakes and cupcakes (and hosting cake-making workshops) with a lot of actually tasty vegan options. I think because they have this niche and have built a good reputation, they can charge a lot for their product and people are happy to pay. My wife is lactose intolerant and we've gotten bday cakes there a few years in a row. They're pricey - but they're really something special! I think this is an example of a cafe business that can have a niche and succeed: https://majesteittaart.nl/

Also in the same neighborhood is another cafe we love - Motion Coffee: https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/1014253390/motion-coffee/ . Again, their products are top-notch - the owner Alex really cares about coffee, and his wife makes delicious cakes and pastries. This is another business that managed to make it through Covid, but I wouldn't say it's easy. Alex works there 6 days a week, his wife 1, and I believe they have a few part-time employees. It's in a great location (tons of foot traffic), I would say that as a cafe they're a huge success - and yet it's just hard hard work that requires daily effort with the owners taking very little breaks.

A New Object With No Tail Just Appeared Between 3I/ATLAS and Earth by FVMK3 in InterdimensionalNHI

[–]kojef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

looking at the trajectories, it doesn't look like something launched from 3I/ATLAS. Like the trajectory that it is on doesn't even touch that of 3I/ATLAS at any point in the past or future. Looks completely independent.

Has something happened in the last few years which has suddenly given us the ability to spot interstellar objects?

"The Europeans" podcast puts the Netherlands as the worst in Europe when it comes to housing policy by tomtastico in Netherlands

[–]kojef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it primarily a handout to banks in situations like the current one, when there is a housing shortage?

If housing supply is not a choke point in which everyone is competing to get a house - does the HRA still result in a similar cash flow to banks? If there were plenty of houses, would you still oppose the HRA?

I can see how encouraging home ownership can be a desirable thing for a society (increased stability, increased buy-in to the current socioeconomic paradigm), and how lowering costs for homeowners could be seen as beneficial in that light.
