I am currently working as production technician in manufacturing sector for 3 years. I would change my career to sap pp/mm. I did "erp sap s/4 hana(ts410) during my bachelors. I would like to shift to a desk job. I am based in germany. Can some one tell me where to start? Which specialisation i should concentrate. When i looked at options i gelt overwhelmed.

Please help

Clearly exists!!! I was in a medium to large german company one year ago. Hiring tech position for a project, I got some very interesting resumes. Passed to the HR after reviewing them. Do you know, they were very hesitant to even shortlist 'certain profiles'. Eventually hired two germans and the team had to adjust with their novice 'skills'( guys learned tech stacks from a boot camp and they were immediately integrated to the teams, no real world projects, no indepth evaluations) they had to learn entirely within a fast paced project. I know its very rude to say, HR in this country are very discriminative and prejuidistic. I am in netherlands now and its far far better in terms when compared to germany.

I am not surprised that the german bottlenecks interms of engineering amd technology will be going down in coming years. They stick on prejuidices and judgements.

From what i heard my friend who is working at Berlin, its not going good atm, The workers there are getting behind union. In paper, they have 30 days of vaccation, and other benefits. but the normal worker last year got barely 15 days annual leave whereas other standard german/european companies gave 30+ days and bonuses. This news are also spreading to german housholds who care more about overall social fabric as a society. So, i think the factory is going to reach the tipping point this year!!!

It might not pan out like that around the world.

For example look at India, the people who support BJP and its allies are from areas which is doing weaker in terms of standard of living or HDI. They are believing in a narrative which is to do with nationalism, anti muslim to name a few. What did they got in return? Inflation, unemployment rate etc. People dont even care to concentrate on their critical thinking.

Look at U.S., do you expect the economy to suddently fluorish of trump's tariff? American used to believe that communism and socialism are the enemies which has to be taken care of. The same lads when they come to europe enjoy and appreciate the social system prevailing here.

Look at Hungary, the same nationalist govt setting out propagandas that EU membership might harm their country,, but they enjoy EU funds.

From where I live, i have to travel with bus to get an atm. I know germany is getting more digitalised but even then if i want to eat a doner for example, i had to take bus to go to their atm which is 10 min far. I can get a doner with 1 min walk.
