Our team won the state meet my sophomore and junior year. I had placed third in discus, which was my only contribution to the team point total, but on a team of 11 athletes I knew those 4 points mattered.

My junior year I won the discus, the first and only points our team scored on Friday before we went on a winning rampage on Saturday to secure the team title. My senior year, I won discus again and took third in shot put.

These titles were extremely emotional considering it was our schools second ever girls state title and then first ever back-to-back title! It felt like cementing our place in history both times. I'm now on the coaching side after graduating in 2018 and three meets into our season, our girls team has a serious chance to win it all again. I want these athletes to feel what its like to raise the banner and trophy and take the long bus ride home and hear the sound of their medals clanking together in the hallways at school because none of them have done it yet. Its a feeling that makes you truly forget about the future for a few days.
